Just heard this as well. Trying to get a reason why. But a certain Mr Barkley can get in the ****ing bin. Miserable twat.

 

I'm almost tempted to sack it off today. Our club tries to curb any attempts at stopping our bowl look like a generic shit hole.

 

I'll be interested to see how this plays out and is resolved.

It'll be fine mate, just the latest person at the club to flex their muscles to block something Union FS want to do. Isn't the first and won't be the last I wouldn't have thought, just need to grin and bear it and wait until he calms down. End of the day the facilities team knew Gaz was doing it and didn't have a problem, one of the guys gave us advice where to put the screws in!

So I hear. But it's just another example of the right and left hand not knowing what the other is doing at our club.

 

And it's a shame that it's today of all days.

 

If it wasn't for it being the remembrance fixture something I am hugely proud our club started. I would be tempted to sack it off in protest.

Apparentlyi it's £48 per perspex sheet and drilling weakens them. Not sure that's the case but hey who am I to argue with the club. 

 

We're ok to stick up hooks like before but that risks them being stolen. 

 

This and our friend Mel Moult have really pissed me off this week.

Once you have calmed down are you gonna sit down with the club?

 

And to be honest as I work with perspex.  They have drilled them to fix them and if you actually fell backwards onto them those types of sheets would struggle to take you weight so you would end up in a heap outside the ground. As they will have several week points around the fixing holes.

We're still ok to put them up its purley about drilling them in. We need to find a new system and well be ok.

 

I'm just not comfortable leaving flags up that are not secure. And there's too many to do them before each game.

Comes back to the front rail suggestion. If the club aren't keen on having flags at the back with the drilling, perhaps UFS could ask the club to put them all at the front. There wouldn't be any drilling required (as far as I know) and they'd be even more visible, I think it'd look cracking considering the flags we've got. Surely there's space too?

 

If the club could work something out with the sponsorship on the front rail, and people/UFS would be happy to have them at the front, I think it could really work. Just a thought.

As someone that sells plastic in its raw form for a living I can say that the plastic at the back of the stadium will be up there with bulletproof glass for thickness. Drilling does encourage weak spots but to crack that stuff you take a heck of a lot. To smash through it and end up outside the ground you would need to really go at it. I've seen Chelsea fans banging on it and you can hear it outside but it won't come down.
Using high strength glue would most likely do more damage to the sheet than drill holes to be brutally honest.

Also what has Mel done? I seem to have missed a memo.

I can't see how a few small holes in the perspex would do any damage either. Unfortunately they disagree.

As someone who works with it all day long and stands at the back, i'll tell you it's not, it's not even proper polycarbonate, it's the cheap shit you lob on top of a carport the sort of shit that got smashed by a few golf ball sized hail stones a few years back, yes it's reasonably tough but it wouldn't take much weight for you to go through it and as I have pointed it out it has been drilled every few inches to rivet it and join it, drilling a few holes for flags will make next to no difference compared to how many holes it has for fixing purposes, it's just the club playing silly buggers again and not talking to each other.

I wouldn't call it that, I'd say it's just one person flexing their muscles and authority over the fans.

 

If only we had started putting them back up at the other end non of this would've happened. lol

Agreed to a point and said person has always been that way, however, if it was ok'd by another party as seems to be the case, then there's an issue of people not communicating or checking with other parties it's ok 1st.

 

I hope it's resolved, it looked a bit bare on sunday.

In discussion with the club now. Hopefully we can sort out a solution, would be nice to get them back up in time for the Brugge game. If not that game hopefully the Boro game.  

 

Just realised I won't be able to do the morning of the Boro so hopefully this weekend.

The club won't pay £48 quid for a few perspex sheets, but happily will throw £100,000 a week at a bloke who's about as use as a chocolate tea pot at the moment.

The club aren't planning on replacing the panels though so the 'damage' isnt the issue.
