HankMarvin Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 Nzonzi looked a beast, so calm on the ball and started most of sevilles build up play. nice to see a midfielder not hoofing it
Sevillista1 Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 Thank you for the kind remarks folks. As I mentioned in my first post, it is not going to be a high margin result, rather a quite narrow one. There are many reasons for that, and one cannot take away Leicester's ability to kill the game off. We rested 2 key players (Vazquez and Ben Yedder) for the very important match against our eternal rival Betis on Saturday. Also, with Real Madrid having lost, we're still in the race for the title, though it will definitely be extremely difficult to compete with Barca and Madrid till the end. Sevilla surely played well, and I would lie if saying I didn't expect more from Leicester, however, this is a 1/8th CL tie and every detail counts. Of course I still expect Sevilla to go through, you still haven't seen our darker side, when we want to get a certain result, no team can bother us (referring to Lyon and Juve matches in CL), and Sampaoli is a possession maniac, so, unless you gigantically improve in 3 weeks, Sevilla are the favorites to get through. The beauty of football that we all love it for is the uncertainty of a match's outcome. May the best team go through and hoping for way much competing from your side in the second leg. All the best, Sevillista
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 I thought we were like statues first half, they just moved it so fast and their movement off the ball (and our lack) was tremendous. We easily could have been 3 down at HT without a complaint, but in the end we got a result of sorts. Were they that good, or we that poor? When they stepped up they were great, it was a pleasure to watch in a strange almost defeatist way. They seemed to switch on and off though, the second half started better for us, and they scored against the run of play imo, but once they did they went up another level for a while, keeping the ball and putting us under pressure with their movement. Gray was the turning point for me, offered something different. At least i can look forward to some atmosphere for the return leg, it should/could be amazing.

They tore us to pieces No they didn't, for a lot of the game we were the better side and pretty much all of the game they were very normal. Sanchez alone was worldclass in that team.

I thought Porto were poor when we played them at home and the away game can't really give much indication as we played a massively weakened side

Old Fox Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 Sevilla are the best side we have faced this season imo - no great individuals but just so organised, controlled and footballers throughout their team. Their fans were immense in the build up - proper atmosphere without any fancy clappers!! Our end was good but not quite Bruge imo We set up poorly imo and I would like to see us with a Ndidi, Amartey with Drinky pressing them especially Nzonzi who we never got close too... Agree with the Sevilla fan we are outsiders but you just never know!!
sdb Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 Liverpool at Anfield this year were better than Sevilla imo. Although my view was terrible.
