Statue of the team or a massive steel hard bulbous, proud and sustained contruction

God I hate the man... why on earth should it be in that area. I couldn't think of many worse places to put something like that, It makes zero sense at all and is all about him thinking it will draw a few more people to that god forsaken run down area of the city.

Just been reading some of the comments on here. Before I carry on, I put it out there that I am of Indian origin and have a lot of involvement with the Indian community in the Belgrave area. There is a lot of support for the Foxes and I'd love it if they put something like this on the roundabout and it would get plenty of visibility as it's only a stone's throw from the City Centre.

However, even I agree that there are more suitable locations, maybe the Main Fosse Park Roundabout as a practical high profile location, or perhaps the roundabout at the top of London Road outside Victoria Park; the location of that amazing celebration. :scarf::scarf:

I agree that the City of Leicester should go loud and proud and put up a big and in your face sculpture or structure to celebrate this achievement as soon as possible. But Belgrave Circle??? It would be ridiculous to put it there as the motive would only be to improve the appeal of an area on the other side of the City. If Vaz wants it there then I want one at the end of my street (which is 50 miles from the KP Stadium).

It may well get some visibility but this is Vaz doing something for the sake of Vaz, not for the City.

There are much more obvious and high profile places for a statue of this nature

It'll get nicked there.

'Golden' mile??!!

I drive down it a couple of times a day and can confirm that its a shiit hole.

Jim likes to ram it down our throats   the romantic believe that this is a twink ling fairy tale area where all that glitters is gold.

Its actually grim and rundown where decent curry houses are a myth. Council should compulsory purchase all of the facades of the buildings that fall below standard and gt a few community service types down to tart them up.

They knocked down the flyover to build a "gateway to the City" from the Golden Mile but they've barely done anything to make it look any nicer, there's just a muddy path going through the roundabout. That old Sainsbury's site is infested with rats and looks an absolute tip.

There are great curry houses off the Golden mile in Belgrave, though. The Woolpack and Paddy's are bang on.

It would nice to have multiple things around the city and county, but realistically that area is going to be well down the list when it comes to ticking the sort of boxes something like that would warrant. Visibility for fans, visibility for people coming into the city, proximity to the club.

It just stinks of him looking after no.1 and his constituency than what's actually the best place for something like that.

It used to be fantastic down there, wouldn't consider it any more though as so many have popped up around the county there is no need to travel any more. Friends Tandoori.... god that place was good in its day. Anyway... back to Vaz the giant shit.

The council have just spent a lot paying for many of the fronts to be painted different colours.

They do have plans for it.

I realize that, but it was a token gesture and these buildings have not been kept looking like that, actually look worse if not maintained and covered in an inch of Diesel gunk from my aging car.

Read the article and was hoping for more like Camden high street aspirations than Coronation street.

Rather leave these type of ideas to Peter Soulsby than Vaz?

He'll just plonk it on a busy road to force car users off of it, without providing a decent public transport alternative knowing him

Oh I agree and asked at the time about who was going to pay for maintaining them.

This is exactly what should happen. Have a huge monument built on the old filbert street to symbolize that Filbert Street was our foundation for going onto winning the biggest prize we could ever dream of. A place where Leicester fans could meet before the game.

Better than a bloody car park anyway

Hey! Car parks have been bloody good for this club.

I detest the idea of the Vaz having anything to do with our football club. And if any tribute to the team is to be placed anywhere apart from at the club itself it should probably be near the M1 exit  where visiting fans and many home fans too, can see it on home match days - and lots of visitors and commuters every other day.

Another potential site would be Jubilee Square but that would be a dead loss to me because I hardly ever go into the city centre now, and can't see that changing.

Even my Christmas shopping is now done in Stratford because they don't seem to be conducting a war with the motorist and the place still has a pleasant atmosphere, something that's long gone from Leicester despite the commendable efforts to welcome the Sevilla fans rather more kindly than was necessarily the case over there.

I wish vaz would distance himself from the club, the bloke is corrupt and a disgrace, and an embarrassment to the club to keep connecting his name with it.

Im sure the something will be done to remember last season, but I suggest vaz keeps out of it, and concentrate on cleaning up his act.

Soulsby can tart up the town as much as he likes but it's Vaz seems to symbolise the disreputable place it's become in many ways.

This will probably get me banned but KIeth Vaz is one of the very few persons on this planet who I would happily push under a very large bus.

Ill say no more. And the ex of course.

I'm dead against stuff like this.

A statue outside the ground of a manager or a player paid for by the club is one thing.

But this is such an in-your-face example of a politician hanging on the coat tails of the success of the club, something that is for the people.

It make it worse that it's a giant football as well. Like 'look, we're a football city now'. It's insulting. It's one thing for the national media to only care about us now we've done something they can make a story out of, but this is supposed to be a local MP whose job it is to serve the people. Where was all this interest when we were in administration and the fans had to bail the club out themselves?

I hate that we've only become relevant to these kinds of people after we've won the league. We've had a well supported football club for many years and we earned our day in the sun, not them.

We should be proud of the club as a whole not just one achievement.
