A statue outside the ground of a manager or a player paid for by the club is one thing. But this is such an in-your-face example of a politician hanging on the coat tails of the success of the club, something that is for the people. It make it worse that it's a giant football as well. Like 'look, we're a football city now'. It's insulting. It's one thing for the national media to only care about us now we've done something they can make a story out of, but this is supposed to be a local MP whose job it is to serve the people. Where was all this interest when we were in administration and the fans had to bail the club out themselves? I hate that we've only become relevant to these kinds of people after we've won the league. We've had a well supported football club for many years and we earned our day in the sun, not them. We should be proud of the club as a whole not just one achievement. Choosing a giant football as well, if you asked our fans to come up with a suggestion I doubt many would have suggested that!! Absolutely something that a 5 year old or someone who hasn't got a clue about the club or the game would come up with. If they wanted to do something that included all parts of the city or the county you could pump money into having a statue of each player done and scattered in and around the city / county. But the costs would be ridiculous.

I don't think it's a bad idea it's a way of ensuring all those on the front line get remembered and it's relatively simple (cost effective) to produce and a step up and more appropriate than a wall. As you say individual statues would be crazy to produce.
HybridFox Posted 13 March 2017 Posted 13 March 2017 He seriously does my head in. Does sod all for anyone then decides to stick his nose in to try take some credit. The hypocrisy last year when he had the cheek to walk into Parliament with a Leicester scarf on bragging about his support ffs. As the chant goes, where were you when we were sh**?

Guest Mee-9 Posted 13 March 2017 Posted 13 March 2017 Has he not been done for that sex scandal yet? Blokes fishing for votes.

Yes, a Leicester MP but sounds like a plan for his own way to get more on his side after the press releases of him. Rather have something near Victoria Park where it's a more popular area and anyone can access or see it from a long distance. Exactly. It's a bit like when Tony Blair invited Oasis round for no.10 for tea. Just looking for reflected glory. The mere fact that it could have the clammy hand of Vaz behind it means that it would be tainted from the start. Lets have our own monument and statue at the ground.
Webbo Posted 13 March 2017 Posted 13 March 2017 The only place for a statue is outside the ground. I don't want us banging on about this one and only title win in 10 years time. It was 1 brilliant, magnificent season, we shouldn't be living off that memory for ever.
VLC86 Posted 13 March 2017 Posted 13 March 2017 This has all been miss quoted, he said he wanted to see some balls on a roundabout. Move this to the dogging thread.

Yes, but if the 'magnificent of magnificent' happens - in winning the CL (!), what would happen then? That could be the reason why nothing has been planned.
Foxxed Posted 13 March 2017 Posted 13 March 2017 He's seeking PR, of course, but then he's seeking it trying to get something we all want, not advocating a military coup of papa new guinea, which I assume only some of us want.
Sir Shep Posted 13 March 2017 Posted 13 March 2017 I don't get it, what's a giant football got to do with Vaz, I thought he was only bothered if it somehow involved India.

mikey54 Posted 13 March 2017 Posted 13 March 2017 I'm not sure I'd like to see any erection (statue or not) of Vaz's

I want our very own angel of the north Make a huge statue of this and stick it on Old John overlooking the whole of Leicester I think if something like that could be carved into the wall somewhere along the main stand it would look fantastic.

I'll be banging on about it until the day they put me in a box.

Hammo Posted 13 March 2017 Posted 13 March 2017 Any statue or memorial to our glorious title-winning team should not have the dirty fingers of that loathsome, nauseating hypocrite anywhere near it.

Before I carry on, I put it out there that I am of Indian origin and have a lot of involvement with the Indian community in the Belgrave area. There is a lot of support for the Foxes and I'd love it if they put something like this on the roundabout and it would get plenty of visibility as it's only a stone's throw from the City Centre. However, even I agree that there are more suitable locations, maybe the Main Fosse Park Roundabout as a practical high profile location, or perhaps the roundabout at the top of London Road outside Victoria Park; the location of that amazing celebration. Spot on matey....it's only at Belgrave so Vaz can curry even more favour from the voting public there....horrible sleazy man. Everything he does always has an underhand motive to it.
RODNEY FERNIO Posted 13 March 2017 Posted 13 March 2017 If it's the idea of Keith Daz of washing machine fame can you imagine the amusing spray painting that this monument will be covered in !!!
