Doesn't get better than a Jazz really, recently sold one to fund my Mustang Obsession, miss it dearly.

What kind did you go for?

I’ve gone for the player series, it’s an orange finish with a rosewood neck. Me plan is to swap out the pickups eventually and upgrade some of the components. But for a basic model it’s still a beauty! Such a great sound!

Ahh yeah I know the ones, I am in the enviable/terrible position of living above a massive guitar shop and have spent many an hour staring at those newer Jazz models, love the creamy one!

Would be interested to hear what you swap them out for when you get round to it, I've never modded a bass personally.

Have you pulled the trigger yet?🤔

Not yet, although I can’t shake the feeling that I should. Sale won’t be on forever, so if I’m going to do it I really need to take the plunge.

That PRS is at an unreal price, TBH.

It's a hell of a lot of guitar for the money isn't it!? I've actually pondered both that one and the Trampas green one, but......can't justify a new guitar at present as I really need to update my audio pc.   Let us know though if you get it!!! 👍

Has anyone tried out coated strings on an acoustic? This week, I ordered a set of Elixir phosphor-bronze because I really suffer with string degradation. Didn't know exactly what to expect in terms of playability and tone - the caveat being they can lack, volume, depth and sustain all of which I look for in a string. Have to say, the patented nanoweb technology hasn't compromised either the sound or feel as was supposedly the case with previous coated strings on the market. They sound quite bright but since I'm so fond of slackened tunings, I'm really linking the tone...the benefit being, that supposedly it stays that way unlike the steels that I am accustomed to. Anyone else used these before?

Andertons Music has a spring sale on.

Oh my, how I'm tempted by a PRS SE Custom 24 at that price.

Or a D'Angelo Premier Bedford.

I justify my purchases this way... before you read on it’s very dangerous to take this approach. You may want to look away now.

The guitar you want PRS is just £599  ( I think?). But it’s not like buying clothes or anything similar where you are losing £599. You could sell that any day at £400, so basically you are only spending £199.

And the longer you keep it the more of the loss you get back.

Then think how many hours fun you will get for your £199. How much do you spend on a Saturday night.

If you take that approach you will have it on order in the morning.

I used the same approach on a Suhr custom, it was delivered yesterday.

Bit more guitar porn for you.

Mate, I wouldn’t even want to play it for fear of dinging it. It’d be an absolute case queen.

Fabulous guitar, though. I’m not even remotely good enough to justify owning such a thing.

But what is it?

Pretty much the perfect colour combination. I swoon for a sunburst body/tortoiseshell pickguard combo

Years ago I had a friend's friend who's an engineer make me a tortoiseshell pickguard out of a blank piece of the stuff. Oh to have the skills

I am not remotely good enough either. It feels like I shouldn’t have it. Weird feeling as it’s great to have, but you do feel you don’t deserve to have it.

It's a Suhr Custom.

Bloke who set the company up was one of Fender's master builders before going solo, I think.

You won't pick one up for less than £2,500.

I have to say I've never seen one in real life.

What year is it? New or second hand? Ballpark figure, dare I ask?

I've never heard of them, but having looked at a couple of forums their owners are pretty besotted with them by and large.

I'll never be good enough to even THINK about something like that, so it's just as well I don't have the money

It was just over £4150 unfortunately. It is absolutely stunning. I am big into Knaggs, who is the guy who used to be top dog at PRS.

This Suhr though is absolutely incredible to look at and play.

I’ll ping a picture of one of my Knaggs

Honestly I am proper dog shit. I have just lost the plot, it’s been like a drug.

This is a Knaggs. The thing I like about guitars is the sale of it is mostly determined by quality rather than brand. I know Gibson and Fender still sell the most, but the small operators survive through the product quality.
I just justify it by knowing they will always have a value, and you can always sell on.

I wouldn't worry. I loved guitars long before I could even contemplate learning to play. They're beautiful things.

I own 5 (including a bass I've probably picked up 10 times) and given that the only things I can play reliably all the way through are 'Slight Return' and the theme from World Snooker, your affliction is not unique to you

So.....what amps are people using to accompany these beautiful guitars?  I'm currently using a mimiq pedal into a Yamaha Thr10c & a THRii 30, both amps sound brilliant and totally acceptable for lockdown volume level requirements (ie the neighbour's are in all the time)👍

Road weary yes - but still has the power of a thermonuclear device. It's like a relic of a bygone age and sits dormant in its silo waiting for someone to accidentally press the button...
