This has made me want us to have a surf green away kit now.

I wish teams were a little more ballsy with their third kits etc, obviously for most it will fit around the badge/team colours but I always love when a team has an 'out there' alternate kit.

This years pink kit is a winner for me!

Spending too much time online comparing what I think are generally called desktop amps?

Seems to be a fairly straight fight between Yamaha THR10 ii and the Katana Air. The former in particular gets pretty darned expensive if you go wireless though. Anybody got experience of these or anything similar?

I don't have the Air, but I absolutely love my Boss Katana Mini.

The Vox Pathfinder has a a lovely sound.

I've already got a titchy tiny Orange Crush but although it sounds decent given its low cost and small stature, it doesn't really do a lot.

I really like the thought of being able to do amp modeling and app control etc in one small box that sounds good at low volumes, and the idea of doing it wirelessly to boot is quite appealing

I’ve got the Orange crush 20 and it’s decent.

On a side note, the new guitar is crazy. The tone you get out of the notes compared to my old one is brilliant, great investment.

Just took this a few weeks ago. It’s a Suhr and my favourite of the lot. Not to everyone’s taste with regards to style and colour ( Antigua) but it kept on looking at me so I had to take it.

Suhr’s are stunning, just amazing guitars

Bought a Gibson SG in Pelham Blue that’s being delivered on Tuesday, cannot wait.

I “think” those pick ups are P90’s? Haven’t a clue what they do, but you see them on many guitars and are sought after.

i hardly play plugged in as I am just trying to learn to play, rather than create a decent sound at the moment, but I need to look up P90’s to find out what era they came from and what they do.

I have an SG, cost me £800, and now think I could sell it at £800, so as long as you keep it long enough you don’t lose on them. So they aren’t the worst things to buy.

I like the colour on this, looks excellent and new guitars just make you pick them up and so you naturally improve. Good luck and enjoy.

I have no idea about it mate but I’ve seen P90s mentioned but honestly it really is crazy how good it sounds. I’ve been learning to play Change in the house it flies by Deftones and there is one point where you hear what I thought was another effect but when playing it the guitar rings out this effect.

And I think you are right, value wise they hold their value.

I had an Epiphone Casino that had them on. I didn't appreciate it at the time as I didn't have an amp good enough to do them justice but I think the idea is that they're really powerful single coils with a lot of 'bite'. Great potential for making a horrendous racket by all accounts.

The Casino was a very beautiful thing but I never really got on with it as the fretboard was too narrow for my big hands

I ve got the thrii 30 and wireless gt10, it's great to be completely wire free when you have it on battery power, expensive though!

They really are, but I guess that's ok if they do what you really want them to? Going wireless seemed like a novelty to me at first but the more I think about it the more it appeals.

Is it easy to get the sounds you want? Whilst sounding like a Marshall stack at bedroom volume is great, what I want is what smaller amps seem to struggle with, which is a bit of variety in the clean/slightly overdriven sounds

I have an old GT-6 and the amp simulation is excellent. You're absolutely right that these sounds are achievable in a bedroom. Nothing beats the headroom and warmth of a powerful valve amp though - but having run a JCM 800 powered Marshall stack on stage and in rehearsal rooms for years, that sound came at a cost. Bleeding ears, hearing loss and tinnitus. I was also competing with a Fender Twin Reverb stack in the blue corner...the Marshall couldn't come close.

I must say, although I will always worship at the altar of the tube amp, I'm very, very intrigued by what I'm hearing about the Boss Katana 50 Mk II - particularly in terms of versatility. Can't decide between one of these or the mouth watering prospect of a Vox AC30 Custom head through my 4x4 cab.
