ThurmastonFox Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 Going to the match on Sunday (nothing unusual there) but I am taking a friend who's not been to a football match in the U.K. Before. They have asked if they can take in a camera or not. I've never tried so have no clue - any idea if they can or not?
Voll Blau Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 Don't think you're technically meant to but it's hardly enforceable with the ubiquity of cameraphones. As long as it's not a proper big pro thing he'll be fine.
FLAN Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 I've seen people in the kop being asked to stop taking pics. But they were making it blatant. Depends on how the stewards feel.

If they threaten to ban you for the rest of this season try not to laugh ...
Displaced Sky Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 Point and shoot pocket cameras are fine, a Rebel type SLR would probably get in but no long lenses or professional kit. Steward may ask your pal to turn it on and take a photo if security is particularly high.

And any other particular make apart from the rebel ... ??

Anything that you can add on and take off you're probably getting into dodgy ground. I'm sure they would be fine, but stand there taking loads of shots with it and you might find you get pulled up for it.

Lestoh Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 don't get why people have to take pictures of everything man, just enjoy being there and view it from your own eyes, not the lense of a camera

Can't blame them really.

I've never taken anything other than P&S to KP. Pancake or 50mm to Olympics, Wembley etc, for photos of fans not the game, but now my phone will do an OK job. A couple of guys two rows in front of me spend half the match lining up shots, zooming and waiting for the ideal moment so that they miss the game and if they do get a photo of an exact beautiful moment, its blurred out with hands and clappers. It will depend where you sit. I'm in the middle aged section so never get searched at home. In a livelier area, they'll likely be more concerned. A big camera, battery pack and glass lens is heavy and really hurts if you get hit with one! Micheal Regan (http://www.michaelregan.co/portfolio/football or https://twitter.com/MichaelRegan/status/859334935114592257/photo/1 ) will likely take much better pictures of the match than your pal, and you can have some nice shots from your P&S or phone of where you were sat and your view without the stress of worrying about whether they'll take your SLR camera away.
ThurmastonFox Posted 18 May 2017 Author Posted 18 May 2017 Cheers all. For those that asked apparently it's a lumix f72 if that means anything ha ha
lesterlad1 Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 The ruling is you can take as many photos as you want prior to the game and again at half time. However once the games start you are not meant to take any. However if it is a mobile le then most steward will let you use it during game as very difficult to police it

southfox66 Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 i was sat front row at Watford game guy next to me had a camera that bigger than a compact im guessing was a bridge camera no one seemed bother
burleighfox Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 Think you're not allowed to take photos during the game; not that that stops people filming on their phones.
