However, the recruitment side has been the biggest letdown in general that needs focusing on improving especially after Steve Walsh has gone.

Good news is that we have money left over from last season and champions league money from this season

Steve Walsh would have been involved in these let down recruits.
st albans fox Posted 28 May 2017 Posted 28 May 2017 Are these new ? Just want to check before I look at something I already looked at !
glenny_fox Posted 28 May 2017 Posted 28 May 2017 the net book value of the squad is £40m but a market value of £236m . That's not bad going at all (although I'd love to see what that £236m is made up of) Also, I wonder what 'employees' we owe £20m to at the end of the financial year.
gw_leics772 Posted 28 May 2017 Posted 28 May 2017 These will be bonuses i would imagine. Players and coaching staff. Not checked but i imagine there is a big amount owes.to them at the end of each season. Could also be signing on fees which would go into the accounts immediately but i believe they are paid out alongside wages over the length of the contract.

The market value is always going to be higher unless you've recently signed a bunch of truly hopeless players. The book value is amortised (the book value starts at the full cost and then reduces in even increments over the length of the contract). Also worth bearing in mind this is before we signed Slimani, Mendy and Musa...
Thracian Posted 28 May 2017 Posted 28 May 2017 Seriously reassuring - it has been an amazing journey.
ealingfox Posted 28 May 2017 Posted 28 May 2017 This came out a while ago didn't it? I thought most of the dolla from winning the title would be reflected in next year's books.

The recruitment post Walsh boils down to ndidi, wague and probably Kapustka. We'd been linked with slimani since we came up, and musa (linked Jan 16), mendy, Hernandez and Zieler arrived before Walsh left. It's convenient to blame walshs departure for last summer but overly simplistic to say the least.
