Premier League Reveal Results Of Research Into Club Ticket Prices

The Premier League, working with professional services company EY, has conducted in-depth research into league-wide club ticket prices for the 2017/18 season.

The research shows that more than half of all attending fans are paying £30 or less per match, and that the average ticket price across the League is £32.

The research is the most comprehensive analysis available regarding the real cost of attending Premier League football. It has been compiled using data provided directly by the clubs, including the cost of every ticket already sold or available this season.

The scale of concessions and offers made available by clubs is laid bare in the research with 34% of all available Premier League season tickets sold below full price (early-bird offers and loyalty discount), saving fans a total of £10m across the season.

On away fans specifically, clubs have recognised their loyalty with a £30 cap on away ticket prices; a three-season agreement in place since 2016/17. The research shows that this season the average away ticket price will be £26, with 33 per cent of away tickets sold at a price below the £30 cap.

Premier League Executive Chairman, Richard Scudamore, said: “The loyal and passionate support of attending fans is hugely appreciated by clubs, their managers and players, and the Premier League.

“This research shows the excellent value clubs are offering across the League and the impressive commitment of their fans. I hope it will challenge commonly held perceptions about the cost of attending Premier League football, and encourage even more people to consider going to a match.”

This research includes all parts of Premier League stadiums, except hospitality areas, and includes all ticket types sold or available at Premier League clubs in season 2017/18. All matchday tickets include booking fees or admin charges.

Data was provided by Premier League clubs and then analysed by EY (Ernst & Young) and the Premier League.

Sure Dicky we know you put the best interest of fans at the top of the list.

Does that  £32 average include all concessions?

Oh and match day prices are still way too expensive especially considering how awash with money the PL is.

Don't  patronise us and talk as if you are doing us a favour without  the fans  your job wouldn't  even exist

Without fans there wouldn't be premier league football, it's basically the fans that sky are selling.

Don't think I've ever paid less than £30 for a Premier League game, maybe Watford 2015/16?

But if EY say so then I guess football is affordable to all.

Arsenal charged (and maybe still charge) £26. Apart from that pretty much everyone goes for the £30.

I'm pleased I don't have to pay more than £30 for any away game but it should be brought down to £20.

Just pray we don't get relegated then as clubs in the Championship especially Ipswich, Norwich, Leeds and Sheff Weds charged a lot more.

I know. I stopped going places like Leeds because they were charging £36 at the time.

I think Ipswich are doing more to try and get prices down now but yeah Leeds and Wednesday in particular charge £30+. Shocking.

Obvious they are doctoring the figures to say it's less than £30 per match, by including students, kids and over either 60's or 65's as that will bring the average down.

Arsenal were reasonable charged and then a few others.... West Brom, Sunderland I recall being about £20 each?

Now it's a flat rate of £30 they bump up their prices but even with that it evens out because we haven't got United/City/Chelsea charging £50.

Agree, "Average price of Premier League ticket under £30" sounds good but "Price of family of 4 to one game over £115" sounds bad. It's the way it's framed that is misleading imo.

I must be in the minority here, for me and my lad to watch Leicester at home it's £19.21 a game. Out of all our family activities, it does have the best value for money compared to everything else.

That's because you're only thinking of yourself and not those that have to.pay match day prices on top of the membership fee.

Well I'm pleased to know that the Premier League think the Premier League are doing a great job.

They're not going to say 'all our members are ripping their fans off' are they? lol

Apart from wanting to play matches on Christmas Eve, giving Newcastle their three longest round-trips at 4pm on Sundays, floating the idea of moving matches around the world, struggling to reach an agreement that £30 is an acceptable price for away fans.

If £32 was a top price then ok, you have some credit. But it is an average price, so some are still paying nearly £50 (plus a booking fee/ admin charge on top) for a ticket. Half the fans benefit, what about the other half?

I actually find this misleading and patronising bollocks more offensive than the pricing, to be honest. You're not some benevolent fund helping out the poor, you've been pushed by years of excellent campaigning to drop your ridiculous prices to a more acceptable level to avoid even more negative headlines.

Dick Scudamore is a joke.

I pay £700 for a family of two adults and two kids it’s the most amazing value ... even when we are shite

Works out at around £9 each per Game

you cant watch a shite movie in the odeon for that !

@davieG

He isn’t thinking about himself it could be argued its the club that is thinking and it is rewarding the loyal fans who are making a large financial commitment over many years with great value and those occasional attendees should and do pay a premium that is used to balance the discounts STHs are afforded

LCFC have thier pricing spot on , we can bitch about most things but we cannot moan at thier ticket pricing it’s fantastic

Season Tickets are ok but matchday tickets are way overpriced especially when you include the membership cost which guarantees you nothing.

Sure the ST needs to have decent differential but they also get the benefit of no additional membership fee, no having to go through what is always a pain of buying a ticket, priority in other ticket purchases etc. So for me the differential is too big. These are all things that made me buy a ST especially the ticket buying obstacle course that we seem to have when you could get a match day ticket with out membership rather than the cost differential

I say that as long standing ST holder who benefits from a concession.
