.....and still my all time favourite in spite of the recent success and quality.

Always came across as real Gent as well.

Best of his generation. Davie G.K.Weller 2 of my top 5 favourite leicester city players ever....until that

Wonderous PL title year.

Though Past legends stay deep in the heart and mind. Gibson and K.Weller are simply branded right there...

Vivid pictures are easily conjoured up just reminiscing of his years at Filbert street.I was heart broken, the day he

he moved on. IMO he still had 3-4 yrs in him.

But from the day of his debut, through all the ups and downs of the 60s, he was my 1st choice player...

1969 the relegation year, he had a few knocks, he missed an on form Bobby Roberts, who seemed to be

a good friend and protector on the pitch...

"Gibbo" was City's established No 10 when I first saw City, in 1966. A Scottish international, and a great pair of bandy legs, the likes of which you don't see any more! Him and Stringy were great on the left.

There isn't enough poetry on this forum.

To cut a long story short, I recently had the unfortunate job of clearing out the house of an elderly relative after sadly passing away. Anyhow I was in the process of clearing out an old chest of drawers when I stumble upon an old Autograph book from c.1960's.

Anyhow I'm a blade (nice footballing lesson earlier in the season by the way)....but I knew my relative to be a Sheffield Wednesday fan, therefore it was blatant that this autograph book would be crammed full of scribes from historical Owls.

After wading through the likes of Peter Swan, Vic Mobley, Doug McMillan, Colin Dobson, Howard Wilkinson, John Quinn, Don Megson, Graham Pugh, Gerry Young, David Ford, John Fantham and like (some of who in all fairness were decent players of their era).........

But then suddenly I stumble upon an autograph signed "Leicester City"??.....The only non Sheffield Wednesday player in the who Autograph book!

And it was no other than one of the finest players to walk on the pitch in a Leicester City shirt..... Dave Gibson himself.

A nice touch too that he signed the autograph "Leicester City", you wouldn't see much of that in this day and age...

Anyway sorry to bore you all half to death with my story however I just wanted to sign up and share it with anyone who was fortunate to have seen him play in the flesh.

Thanks for posting this, I’m at uni in Sheffield and every Blade I’ve met has been really sound - I hope you go up.

Two bob to get in as well.We used to think of Bobby Kellard as the ultimate in bandy legs.hence the term 'shes got legs like bobby kellard'

I know but it was a while ago

Nowadays, if she has “legs like Riyad Mahrez”, you probably want to ask for proof of age...

No problem at all, glad it brought a few memories flooding back, especially for those who are fortunate to have seen him play in the flesh. I was born in the 80's so it well before my time however I have managed to find a few old videos of Gibson playing and he looks a quality player, surprised actually to see that he didn't have more Scotland caps?

Obviously our hero up here is Tony Currie. Again too young to have watched him play in the flesh but seen plenty of him on film and I guess of a similar mould in regards to his flair and ability. To be fair those two in the same team would have been lethal.

I'm not sure what to do with the autograph to be honest. Whilst i'm not a Leicester fan, it's to scribe of arguably one of the best players to come out of Scotland never the less.

@Wookie Cheers mate. We have our fair share of numpties like every team does but the majority of us just like a drink and a bit of banter. I lived in Leicester for a couple of years myself through work and I made friends with a good few Foxes fans and have some good times down there.

@norwichfox No rpoblem at all mate, happy to share it with you.

Scotland had a decent selection of players back then. The English league 1 was awash with Scots.
