Reckon if it went down the route Lost Bar did with a heavy LCFC history theme it might hold itself there.

Doesn't look like it will be football themed tbh.

Yeah this is also important. Wigston is the only suburb with a station and even that isn't located optimally.

There's no way somebody from say Coalville could go into town midweek for a beer without driving or getting a £40 taxi. A bus takes the test part of an hour

Good job too. We should try and make the bus take 2 hours.

Paid a quick visit to the Real Ale Classroom yesterday after the game. Found it pleasant enough without being completely blown away.

Went there a few months ago, just found it very stale. Seating was an absolute pain upstairs, but did reality like the downstairs bit.

The Stoneygate gaff is my local. Can't fault it.

The Castle really is the bollocks now with that deli on the side.

Had an utterly ridiculous warm Cuban sandwich with so much meat in it for £7

My usual match day / favourite gaffs normally close down so apologies to the bloke who's put all the effort in

Will have to get out there some time. Deserve credit for trying to get the city centre's pub scene going again.

Bar is an absolute ball ache to navigate if there's more than about 4 people inside though

True, its cramped as fook on a busy winters night. I class it as a 'summer' local as the garden isn't half bad. When it's too busy in winter I retreat to the Cradock.

Any decent beer in the Cradock?

Had a few pints at the Blue Boar and TTL (which were both packed) on Saturday before the rugby, followed by a decent curry at The Taj off Braunstone Gate later. Rocky at the Blue Boar is always a solid pint. Leicester city centre might struggle in some ways with pubs and nightlife, but we’re essentially a two-team city, with 30k people coming in one week and 20k the next. Even when you factor in Notts County’s extra fixtures and throw in the ice hockey, Leicester probably pulls in more people than Nottingham, and quite a few other cities, for sport at the weekend. It really shows how important the clubs are to the city centre.

I've nearly finished "Diary of a Publican" by the owner of the Blue Boar, which I've really enjoyed. Got some great bits of local history in there, insights into the pub/beer trade, and is genuinely funny. Essential reading for a lot of people who post in here and the Pints thread!

Sorry, completely missed this.

Not really anything out of the ordinary. I usually end up drinking San Miguel or Guinness. They have a few ales on tap but nothing that stands out. Their sister pub The Clarendon has Neck Oil on tap so I don't know why the Cradock doesn't.

It's a shame because the Cradock is a really good pub with a good vibe. It's ALWAYS busy, in fact, I've never known a pub that is consistently that busy. You could go for a pint on a Tuesday evening or Wednesday lunchtime and the place is buzzing, whereas most gaffs are empty until Friday and Saturday nights. Good set of locals down there too. Beer garden is fantastic, have a lot of live music and stuff like that on in the summer, Barbecues and the like but most of it;s ticketed and they usually have to have bouncers on because people end up queuing down the road. amazing numbers of people in there at all times considering how big the gaff is. Food is alright, but I'd say overpriced.

If they put on a few unusual/local beers it would be top notch IMO.

Granted not in Leicester but two proper old school boozers.

Sunday a couple of excellent pints in the chequers in Ticknall.

A couple of very good Guinness in Polly's in Whitwick last night.

My point is they would rather drink at the student union or R bar than go to a decent boozer that they would consider to be an “old man’s pub”

My lads at Sheff Uni…. He’s been properly brought up and knows where to drink…. He’s found all the good boozers (which are still busy)…. He lived next to the Rutland arms in his first year and would often stroll down to Kelham island too….   Wrong thread, but Sheffield is ace for pubs…

My daughter is away at the moment, and she’s said there’s a massive growing trend for non-drinkers…. I won’t judge that too harshly to be fair… just a different era

Castle, Blue Boar, Two Tailed Lion, Kings Head.

You know the score…. Not that keen on the way the two tailed lion was done out….  Almost wine bar vibes downstairs…  Should be so much better

and you forgot the cherry tree and The Salmon!

Slightly off topic as its not Leicester.... I had a one hour stop over in Sheffied due to train times. If you are in the same situation, its worth a brisk 5 minute walk to the Rutland Arms.

As mentioned above…. Wonderful boozer…. Although despite being firmly middle aged and non violent my mate and I nearly got into a scrap last time we were there….

Plenty. Everards Milestone they have there at the moment is gorgeous. Also got Tiger and a couple of other proper beers, plus usual keg crap.

Had two Everards ales plus Tiger on when I was there 2 weeks ago. The Milestone was a fantastic pint.
