Went to two tailed lion after game where staff are always superb. Unfortunately getting anything on keg there is difficult at the moment.

Pubs were generally a lot quieter than other match days. Had a curry on London Road and it was so busy, mainly full of Muslim families enjoying themselves. The city’s demographic means pubs will not last here.

Honestly the speed of how quick those taps run at Two Tailed Lion are a problem. You’d get served with a shit cocktail quicker.

August matxhdays always weird cos you’ve still got people on holiday and the last weekend of the pay month at the mo.

By contrast, Ale wagon was as packed as I’ve ever seen it

I walked through town after the match and thought everywhere was busy from looking inside

That’s really good to hear. I didn’t think the same being on Millstone Lane then heading to the cultural quarter.

Sam Hagger taking on the Stamford apparently ffs

Im less bothered with him bothering county pubs with small plates etc. The fear is him taking on more of the city centre stuff.

Current landlords getting kicked out in two weeks and left it in a dire state. Unpaid bills, lost their sky subscription, reports of beer running low and full of druggies.

Strange man.

I was a fortnightly visitor at the forge. Never saw him speak to a punter..not once. Odd.

The Stamford just needs to be a steady beer and food pub, it doesn’t need tapas or a deli or taster menus. But Everards don’t know what they’re doing so they turn to mr boiler plate to get them out of the shit because he can at least run a restaurant.

They’re going to run out of pubs to homogenise, then surely the penny will drop that you have to let landlords get their own guest beers on and give them license to move away from highland cow decor.

I don’t love BCA pubs but the beer is night and day with Everards pushing IPA iteration 2917 on to people.

Also if the Stamford is your local I am really sorry this is happening.

It’s not thankfully but I grew up in Glenfield and went to school in Groby so I’m fond of it

Or they were quite high up at everards from my contact. Fundamentally, the beautiful collective company seems to be becoming a monolithic entity with Leicester pubs. They can’t serve a good cask pint and you need a BMW for free parking.

My sister was similar just grew up in western park. I think it’s been going down hill recently anyway- the weird colour menu/ deli etc.

The Westerns permanently shut then. Cue Jamie Lewis to buy it and turn it in to fu*k knows what. Was a great boozer in the day. Only leaves the black Horse as a traditional pub in the west end.

Can't believe the decline down the west end since I was at uni 20 years ago

It's really sad. It was always buzzing, didn't even think about going in to the city unless there was a gig on. You had the western, the laundry, loaf, sumo, the tucan, all gone now.

Fully gone?

I think someone on here said it was just going to be a change of landlord.

Possibly me but I've heard stories about it closing for good since.

I did an online search a few days ago but got no answers. It's a hot topic in my part of the world, obviously!

We drink in the Black Horse on match days and there were people who used to drink in the Western asking what was going on before the Plymouth game.

I did. I contacted everads about it and was told it was closing but to "watch this space" so I assumed that they were keeping it but it was then announced it was shut permanently. Lots been said about whats going on but nothing concrete.
