They’re not within a 5 mins walk though (you actually want somewhere that’s no more than 2 mins away). Basically somewhere where you can nip in for a quick pint before or after getting the train.

I did an historical walk (Leicester Civic Society) of South Highfields and ended up in there with my mates for swift 6 beers!  Great selection and well kept

Re: Braunstone Gate,  not been in the Doghouse since before Covid. The Black Horse is my favourite in that area. Really good since the new landlord took over.

Had a load in the Blue Boar after the Tigers game yesterday. You’re guaranteed the freshest of cask ale in there post game, after Friday night, and the pre game rush. Every beer was delicious

Seems a bit trite to say because the name is similar but Frog Island in another time could have been our Kelham Island.

 

The Keepmoat waterside scheme was such a waste of prime waterside land, 2 or 3 storey townhouses when even some midrise apartments would have added good massing.

It didn’t really need a refurb but then again  local drones do start flocking to pubs once they’ve been done up. Looks as though the Old Horse has never been so busy
