Uruguay very poor going forward, looked like they had no gameplan once behind. Everybody likes to talk up these defensive teams but the reality is when they concede they're Fúcked, dangerous game to play

Its a massive if but if we do make it to the final then i really hope its against Brazil.

 

South American teams lose their heads so so easily and have no problem believing we could shithouse our way to a win with a penalty or 2 with our set play strength.

Yeah ok fine but if losing one player completely neutralises your whole attack, then you're not good enough. Mind you, England without Kane would be a similar story....

I think most countries fall in that category. Uruguay are one of the few teams that play a true 4-4-2, so their entire system is predicated on saurez and cavani's partnership.

 

Colombia are built on the play making of James Rodriguez, and they looked inept offensively without him. There's not much depth at the international level so winning the world cup hinges on key players staying healthy. Like you said, England losing Kane would be devestating.

Commentators do say "no chance" way too often, though. Sometimes incredible saves do happen. 

 

As a goalkeeper, it does my head in. 

 

"No chance" should be reserved for the literal instance of a shot being impossible to save.

 

Sorry, I'm a pedant and a goalkeeper. Bound to get my goat, that one.

lol, no issue with your argument there, but you can’t say one keeper has an impossible job saving an effort and in literally your next sentence say that any shot on target “should be saved”.
