According to Manu Lonjon, a journalist for Yahoo Sport, Bertrand Traore would like to join Claude Puel, the current coach of Leicester. The Burkina Faso player could be the subject of an offer in the coming days, when the final departure of Riyad Mahrez in Manchester City will completed. Vaguely remember him from the Europa League final for Ajax against Man Utd(?)
Molson Canadian Posted 4 July 2018 Posted 4 July 2018 On 26 June 2017, Traoré signed for Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais on a five-year contract for an initial transfer fee of €10 million (£8.8 million), plus potential add-ons. Chelsea reportedly inserted a buy-back clause into Traoré's contract and would receive 15 per cent of any profit made by Lyon on the fee should they sell Traoré in the future. Chelsea would also have first refusal should Traoré move again.
HankMarvin Posted 4 July 2018 Posted 4 July 2018 Was highly regarded as a youngster still only 22 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2532523/IN-THE-SPOTLIGHT-Bertrand-Traore-Chelseas-Burkina-Faso-wonderkid.html Has he really progressed that much?

Yeah I saw him play a few times for Ajax the year he was there, always stood out as one of the best players on the pitch. 1

Given their managerial situation and the fact Abramovic is tightening the purse strings, I can't see much movement there.

ian_marshall Posted 4 July 2018 Posted 4 July 2018 Anyone what we'd likely be looking at in terms of a fee?

Thought it was the same chap, the hair was the giveaway! Quite a few from that side seem to have left for pastures new to varying degrees of success so hopefully he's more Davison Sanchez and less Davy Klaasseen.

Tbf, Everton were so collectively shit last year that its probably a bit too early to call Klaassen a flop. It's not like Gylfi covered himself in glory and he's a known quantity as a very good Premier league midfielder. 1
Nick Posted 4 July 2018 Posted 4 July 2018 Underwhelmed tbh - in the prem I just see him going forward with the ball and losing it 8/10 times. 1

Yeah he's one of those type of players. To be fair some of these type of players over time do add end product and go to the next level. Zaha in recent times in the Premier League is a good example, but even Riyad himself could fit into that category too. For me this is a "meh" signing which is OK as a replacement if he's relatively cheap, but he's a downgrade and unproven compared to Mahrez. Still with 13 goals and 4 assists last year for Lyon, he's probably a better shout at making an instant impact than say Roberts. Lyon are a pretty decent team in France still. https://www.whoscored.com/Players/109807/Show/Bertrand-Traoré Actually at Lyon last year, only Fekir had a higher average rating than him and better goal / assist stats. Maybe this is a decent signing after all? Edited 4 July 2018 by StriderHiryu 1
Popular Post richardsfoxes Posted 4 July 2018 Popular Post Posted 4 July 2018 Our best hope of replacing Riyad long term is signing players like this, 20-22 having great seasons in good foreign leagues who can develop here and make a impact straight away, we have to be realistic guys we're not going go out there and splash 40M on someone who is already in the prime of their career like a lot of people on here think we are. 15

Wise words! Totally agree with you. There will always be an element of chance about signings like this, but that's to be expected with the fee involved. There is a reason why clubs like Man City pay a premium for the finished article. Edited 4 July 2018 by StriderHiryu
