It's good for home fans but terrible for away fans when you load a bunch of cash onto it and then don't spend it. I've still got about €10 on a card I got at the Allianz season before last lol

Decent suggestion but I guess contactless card is the same principle and saves as much time

You’re telling me you had €10 on your card and didn’t buy a Bavarian beverage. Shame on you.

Any danger of them pouring some pints in preparation for half time? Every other week they look baffled when a load of people come down and order a pint.

They've always appeared genuinely surprised that lots of people arrive at half time wanting to buy food and drinks.

Although 10+ years ago, when we were really bad we used to argue who was going to to be the lucky one to miss a bit of the match and get the beers in! They couldn't cope then and there were 10k less fans in the ground.

I was a bit worse for wear at that point, gave myself a bit of a break. They did some awesome pretzels though I seem to remember.

Never understood why anyone uses them in the first place. Plenty of boozers around the ground and ditto with food outlets, all with better booze and food and a damn sight cheaper as well. Queueing like cattle with the clock ticking at halftime for a warm beer in a plastic cup and manky food you would normally scrape into your dog's bowl is all rather silly.

Just think of how much potential revenue the club loses to all those burger vans outside the ground. I'm afraid the catering side of the club is very small time and needs a complete revamp especially with the ground extension coming up.

The club can't lose to those outside because it takes nothing from those inside Compass have a 10 year or so contract signed before the current owners took over or at least very early in their ownership before they got their feet firmly under the table.

PS They signed a 5 year contract in 2007 and if I remember a new 10 year one when that expired in 2012

Yeah the bier is absolutely lethal down there... yep, as 'tough' as German football is, you will always find a poor soul walking the stands trying to sell pretzels.

The food in the concourse there was the best I've ever seen. Great food, safe standing, beer in the stands. What more could you ask for. Oh and the ticket was €14 lol

Yep, they’ve nailed it, the fans are nuts too. The crazy thing is how they all want to go to Old Trafford and the Emirates etc. to experience the ‘Premier League’ atmosphere.

It's a football match, manky food and warm beer is all part of the gig.

The food I had at the ground the other night was disgusting, and expensive.  Worst ever. I was in the Valencia end, doubt that makes any difference though. I will not be buying food at the ground again. As everyone knows getting drinks at half time isnt easy unless you don't mind missing a few minutes.  But contactless will make a difference. They do need to upgrade from Compass.

So given a choice, you would stick with warm beer and manky food for nostalgia sake ? The game moves on and acceptance of those standards given the price to go watch football should no longer be tolerated.

Well to tell you the truth, i actually like singha lager, and it ain't warm, washes down the 3 or 4 guinesses i have at the pub, and the thing is, no one is forced to eat and drink at the ground and i suspect most fans like everything how it is and don't really want frankie and bennys, macdonalds, nandos and all the other perfect food retailers at the ground.

Interesting that. The club uses Unitemps when they want extra staff when they hand out the free beers each season.

My god man... have you really just described Frankie and Bennys, MacDonald’s and Nando’s as perfect food!
