HesNotGudjonsonn2 Posted 3 January 2020 Posted 3 January 2020 Hi Guys, I hope someone can help. I never hide the fact that I am an armchair fan who loves to watch on the box generally down to not having mates who support the same team as me. Anyway, I do have a nephew who sadly grew up in Brum and supports Villa so he asked if I wanted to buy us both tickets...he nailed me there. So since I have someone with an interest in the game to go with then I thought I would get some tickets for the match. This is where you lot come in...where do I sit? I don’t want to put my Villa supporting nephew in any area where if he is dumb enough to celebrate anything then he may get an idiot kicking his head in. i doubt he will have anything to celebrate but if someone can advise a sensible area where we can enjoy the match and I can show him his team losing very clearly to our boys that would be great. Thanks
StanSP Posted 3 January 2020 Posted 3 January 2020 I've often found in the West Stand whenever Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal etc come to visit there's fans of those clubs dotted around (Block C2). Never seen anyone get jumped on/'head kicked in' for supporting the away side. You can often tell them a mile off - won't celebrate if we score, very quiet throughout the game even though we may do something well, sometimes see a bit of a fist-pump if the away side score (yes I have seen that against Utd once - took great joy in Maguire's equaliser against them in the 2-2 draw in the dying minutes shortly after he was filming Utd fans winning/celebrating )
Guest Manini Posted 3 January 2020 Posted 3 January 2020 If you carefully explain the situation to him and tell him just this once, to try his best not to celebrate if Villa score you’ll be fine anywhere I think mate (I don’t know how old he is if he’s an adult then this should be obvious ). Avoid SK1 and L1, not that there’s any tickets in the latter, and you’ll be fine (not that it would have a tendency to get violent in SK1 but he’d be in the singing section so could get his back up). To be honest if he did celebrate I think stewards are under orders to eject opposition fans in the home end so that’s the issue - but to be honest the stewards at the KP are fairly passive so probably be fine mate
rachhere Posted 3 January 2020 Posted 3 January 2020 I think I would head towards the West Stand, in the Walker Hall section. Hopefully this will be a catalyst to you moving on from being an armchair supporter - nothing like experiencing it live! Plenty of people go down on their own - you just end up chatting to people around you.

Guesty Posted 3 January 2020 Posted 3 January 2020 When you pick your seats (normally you get a screen showing you avaliable and unavaliable seats I think), maybe try picking somewhere where there aren't too many people - you can just move and sit away from people and both enjoy the game. Back in the day when the ground was half full, me and my mate never used to sit in our season ticket seats; we'd just wait for 5 minutes into the game and go to different seats.

Spudulike Posted 3 January 2020 Posted 3 January 2020 I've seen what can be best described as heated exchanges in C2 and that was between City fans I've also witnessed fans giving dogs abuse to the occasional away fan in the boxes at the back. Also in A2 where I once found myself during the Pearson FOAD match when stewards piled in to rescue a loan Liverpool fan. That said, wherever he sits, like most grounds, do not give it the big 'un and he should be OK. Just use common sense.
FoxInTheBirstallBox Posted 3 January 2020 Posted 3 January 2020 As long as the people around you seem okay you could always chat away and have a laugh, I sit in the West stand and had the odd away fan there. Honesty seems the best policy as then you can have fun. I wouldn't mind any opposition fan sitting near me as long as they can have a laugh
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 3 January 2020 Posted 3 January 2020 It's all fine other than L1 where you can't buy matchday tickets anyway and the very back of SK1.

Illusion35 Posted 3 January 2020 Posted 3 January 2020 I wouldn’t advise K1, have seen some less than friendly reactions to the odd away fan who has given themselves away by celebrating etc. Likely to be ejected I would think. I would stick to family stand or west stand.
