Guest Electric Yetis Posted 30 July 2020 Posted 30 July 2020 Can anyone confirm I am reading this right? Mrs MOT is due today (only just realised as she hasn't driven in 4 months). Looking on the government website it seems that any MOT due up to and including 31st July can be extended for 6 months. Is this right? She can effectively delay having an MOT until the end of January. Could really do with saving the money right now so if it is it would be a welcome bonus.
Soar Fox Posted 30 July 2020 Posted 30 July 2020 That is correct. Mine ran out in May but I won’t be getting it done until November.

The Syrup Posted 30 July 2020 Posted 30 July 2020 It will be automatically updated to the 6 month extension, just check on the mot checker on the gov website
Mint23 Posted 30 July 2020 Posted 30 July 2020 I’m an MOT tester and that’s correct. Any car that was due between April 1st and July 31st has a 6 month extension.

Guest Electric Yetis Posted 30 July 2020 Posted 30 July 2020 Thanks all. Saves spending some money on the shit can she drives for about 20 miles a year.
kyleolly Posted 30 July 2020 Posted 30 July 2020 I had mine done last week glad I did my shock absorber was leaking and coil had fractured wouldn’t have been safe driving it for another 6 months

AyewJoking Posted 31 July 2020 Posted 31 July 2020 Due in april but extended to october. If i leave it that long, am i likely to get ripped off when it does go in? For example, "oh you need new tyres/wipers etc since its been so long since last MOT".

What you have to bear in mind is that you're not really saving money on an MOT, you're just deferring the cost for 6 months (and to a time around/just after Xmas when most people are brassic).

Well aware of that but could do with saving the money now. It's delayed until 30th January so will be after January payday.
