Difficult batting conditions, Cox and Brook deciding to counterattack which is somewhat understandable given the situation - get the bowlers off their line and length otherwise in these conditions there's inevitably going to be one with your name on no matter how good you are defensively.

I’m not sure about Gay

But in all seriousness, he does seem to be struggling to make a decent score at the top of the order and I'm not sure if that's just bad luck so far or some technical issue he has.

Not much time between now and the home Ashes to decide to stick with him or not, too.

Harry Brook is such a fraud as a batter in the test team

A fraud with an overall Test average of over 53 and a yearly average of no lower than 45 across five years so far is a fraud who's pretty good at being so, I reckon.

Decent rebuilding work that session.

Definitely. I reckon 275 could be a decent total.

I imagine conditions will be a bit mixed for a day or 2.

Given the conditions and their batting lineup I would think 275 would be plenty tbh.

That's a fair point. If England stick to the basics when bowling, Pakistan will find it tricky.

Do you watch much cricket?

Yeah. Loads. Scores quick but how often is he out to a good ball rather than getting himself out by being stupid. (Granted today was a decent ball)

Yeah I do. Not disputing one bit that he’s not good. If he had the same mentality as Joe Root, he’d go on to be our greatest run scorer.

So I think calling him a fraud is harsh?

I know what you mean. He is a much classier and better player than Rishi Patel, but there are parallels in my opinion. They  both have immense talent, but can also be so frustrating, because  they more often than not get themselves out with a silly shot rather than the bowler getting them out. Both entertaining to watch as well, which makes the frustration even greater when they do give their wicket away, but I suppose if they played a little safer they wouldn't be so entertaining.

Well, looks like 175 would have been plenty, let alone 275 or 290.
