Sangakhara is absolutely immense. So insightful.

Butcher and Doull are dull as dishwater - both bang average players trying to be angry critics.

I’ve never been one to get animated at the cricket, ever, but I was mardy as sin sat there yesterday watching Overton bowl short rubbish with a new ball. Whether that’s a Stokes decision or he’s doing it himself, bin it right off. Doubly annoying as he’s obviously finding some pace, bowl at the ****ing stumps man!

It’s unbelievable bowling. Great tossing from New Zealand mind, couldn’t have picked a better batting day yesterday, and today is about as good a conditions as you could pick for swing bowling. Close, muggy and overcast. Williamson will be pleased, he got this one right as it stands.

Great bowling but top three all getting castled is unforgivable.

This has been unbelievable bowling to be fair. Southee to Root there too.

Against the new ball, Stokes and Bairstow will get out soon playing like this (prays I’m wrong).

I mean it was a bit predictable.

I'm not sure I understand the point. I'm obviously no cricket genius but surely you take your time, settle down and build an innings? I know smashing is the forte of these two but time and a place, no?

Its one thing throwing the bat when chasing a 4th innings total but doing it in the first innings in response to a reasonable score is a bit lazy and irresponsible. It will be a great watch when it comes off but it will fail more often than not.

Totally agree. I admire England's new cavalier approach & wanting to entertain, but surely there's a time too attack & a time to look at the situation & play accordingly.

Russian roulette cricket.

If we can get to around a deficit of say 100, what would New Zealand try and tempt us with to chase?

Surely under this new regime we will go after it regardless

I don't know if this partnership justifies an attacking method or it makes it more frustrating that you just needed to see out the opening spells and then cash in.

Either way brilliant batting, Overton in particular.

Jonny B really enjoying himself here. What a partnership this is turning into.

If we win this test from being 55/6 then just wow again.
