Can't they just take the extra 30mins for us to knock off the rest of these 120 runs....

Not with 90 overs available tomorrow.

For years a 4th innings run chase over 250 was virtually unheard of - the footmarks and cracks from a 5 day old pitch would have ruled it out certainly in England . Now we don’t look bothered about taking it on . I hope we wrap up the 3-0 tomorrow but well  played NZ in the series whatever the result .

Talking points-

Southees 2 failed Lbw reviews in 2 balls that everyone could see weren’t out

why are we persisting with gormless Crawley ?

As Nas said after the days play ended - Crawley's brain is scrambled. He didn't even get runs for Kent at the start of the season.

However, he also pointed out the new regime will probably give him the next test because it wouldn't be a good look to tell players to go out and express themselves and then drop them.  That and the fact Key loves him.

If he fails he's probably got to go, get back to Kent, and try and find some form.

He's on borrowed time that's for damn sure.

Morgan retiring from internationals. A bit surprising. I know he's been out of form for about a year, but going into a series as captain, to dropping himself for the last game, to retiring all seems quite sudden.

Fair play to Morgan, I think he knows its the best interest of the side given his niggles and lack of form. Should be offered a job in the coaching team immediately if he wants it. To be fair, they could have saved money and giving the one day gig to Morgan rather than Mott.

He's never got runs for Kent

Fantastic. Don’t think many would’ve expected or predicted this at the start of the series. Three incredible chases, where you think this time last year we’d have crumbled in 2/3 of them.

Didn't take long lol

4th Innings chases are meant to be difficult.. Incredible batting, not sure the New Zealand bowlers have adapted very well when they've started getting hit but take nothing away from Bairstow in particular.

I wonder how long you can bat like this long term, against good spinners or quicker bowlers but it's been great fun. Certainly go into the India game with great confidence.

Middle order is phenomenal. Top order is still a problem, even though Pope has been in the runs.

Potts looks a good find but still worry the bowling attack will struggle more against India.

Certainly wasn't expecting that result at the start of the series but credit to them. Some brilliant performances and McCullum seems to have really brought out the best in a few.

Don't know how sustainable this style of play is in the long term but the rest of the summer's going to be exciting at least!

It's a shame given how well that series went that there's still a bit of a stench around at the top of the order.

All this change in the ECB, all this positivity with the new management group.... and yet we've got a hapless opener who more than likely wont be dropped because our new Managing Director has had an unhealthy obsession with him since he was a teenager.

Key has pretty much acted as if he's Crawleys dad or something when he's done sky county comms in recent years, but I think the best thing he can do for him now is suggest he has a season of county cricket next year to play himself back into this England side.

For me it would be such a shame to see all this positivity clouded by yet another 'jobs for the boys' story.

I thought test cricket was supposed to be boring? :P

Ben Stokes pretty much said they had a duty to entertain and create excitement even if sometimes it might not pay off.

But credit to the team for this series as it certainly has!

McCullum's comments yesterday were pretty clear on Crawley. Hes a huge talent and they'll give him time to find his form. Given the number of people who've had a go at the top of the order it's hard to disagree with that - there aren't many with years of runs to be next in line. Compton didn't have a pro deal until last year.

Find his form? What form has he ever had to warrant a test call up?
