Might aswell just get rid of the countdown on reviews

Got accused of not knowing anything about cricket the last time I mentioned this.... imagine trying to sledge Joe Root. Really hope we smash these *****.

Both sides have continually let themselves down in the field in this series.

Guarantee England will give the holier than thou response tonight in the media. Completely dull and takes away from some excellent cricket.

Harry Brook is better than this. I'm all for positive batting but come on.

He's had a really patchy series. He's had two great knocks but otherwise he's looked ropey IMO. On some really easy pitches too.

Would like to see him knuckle down here and make a good score. Doesn't have to be the flashiest because we've got all the time in the world left in this game. It's important for him to be at the crease in a couple of hours or so.

Sledging him is easy, having your words smashed down your throat for 4 hours with his bat not so much.

Brook is seriously enigmatic.

Part of me wants him to change things to look for more consistency, part of me thinks "well, he's already got an average that is among the very best so if it isn't broke, why try to fix it".

Are Indian seconds slower than hours? Little mention on comms too, they seem scared of a backlash.

Root gone! Big wicket. India have done well to claw their way back into the match. Feel like England have just lost their heads a bit.

Such a unnecessarily chaotic test match, everything seems to be in a rush.

If Bethell gets runs here he cements his talent because he's done nothing but carry drinks all summer and now expect to find some crucial form with the bat.

Someone explained to me in the past that the actual clock is a bit behind the TV clock and that there are still a couple of seconds left on the actual clock by the time the TV has run out. Why that's a thing I don't know but yeah.

What I would say is that reviews should be for howlers and the timer should reflect that by being shorter IMO.

The keeper and bowler should be able to make a decision pretty much immediately. If they can't then it isn't a howler from the ump.

I don't think you should get long to make a review.

Have to love test cricket.

Morning session was completely and utterly England's yet India have roared back into it and will probably go into their innings only being a few behind.

92-0 to 215-7 (effectively 8) has been a really rubbish afternoon for us. Too many have gone cheaply.

Overton is having an all-time stinker. What an awful selection he's been. We knew he wasn't good enough and knew he wouldn't be (or shouldn't have been) in plans for the Ashes.

Could have given Cook or Potts a go.

Genuinely reckon I’ve seen better cricketers than Overton watching my local club

To be fair he's another one who's barely played any red ball all summer.

I think Brook and Atkinson have just got to go out swinging a bit now. Try and put on a quick 30 or so between them. I think it's more important that we can get through a bit of the Indian top order tonight because the Oval has a recent history of flattening out into a pancake.

It’s about to rain for up to an hour

maybe would have been best to just see out a big chunk of the day rather than swing and get out

three days still to go!

One innings shootout it is, then.

Functionally, anyway.

Really don't want to be chasing much more than 200 in these conditions.
