That’ll show the racists

It's more that it'll show the social media companies who earn a shit load of money through advertising.

When people are being racist they don't seem to care. Maybe when companies don't want to pay for advertising they'll start to pay attention.

I suppose the clubs are different as they'll provide other information and, being a collective rather than an individual, won't get the personal abuse. If I was a player receiving abuse, I'd walk away from it all. Of course, you are probably letting these vile people "win" but I don't see the media companies doing enough so unfortunately you are left with a stark choice of staying or going.

As ever, the minority spoil it but I'd totally understand if all players just said "we've had enough and it's not for us anymore".

Racism on Social media...can be ignored or just Dont have Open accounts...

The Major issue across sport...is the racism within the participants-peers the Organisations their  authorities & decision makers,

Subtily or directly preventing promotions, advancement & support , & just the negative thought of not bringing the various Peoples into the fold

without even thinking or making an issue about it...!!!

People are people...differences in skin-colour, various cultures, & diverse ethnicity should be celebrated, and lives openly shared and not shunned...

Its the racist themselves who cant intigrate or even understand they themselves are a Mixed Melting-Pot of ethnicity..!!

Social media suppliers just need to grow a par and sort this out.

Anyone signing up for an account need to provide ID, scanned copy of driving licence, passport, utility bill etc.

For under 18, parents provide ID.

Then when abuse happens it can be dealt with by the police.

Personally, I'm not comfortable with that. All it takes is one hack and they've got your details. While you can argue people put all sorts of info online, that's not necessarily paperwork.

Plus, for every dodgy person online, there are people doing good. If anonymity was compromised, would MeToo have happened?

Yes, social media companies need to do more but this also comes down to education and communication.

It's not being done to influence the racists.

It's being done to influence the platforms into better moderation of their content and, potentially, to sway the authorities into regulating these platforms a bit more tightly.

The hope is to try to make it not quite as easy as it currently is for the racists to do what they do.
