So because of a few racists in the 80's you've decided to poison your children minds to root against their own county?  Great parenting.  Bodes well for their future.

Growing up in Leicester I have been racially abused by Asians countless times, should I therefore tell my children to hold certain views against a whole community due to the actions of a few morons?

Do what you want and who do you think you are to judge me???

Unless you have been there you no jacksh1t.

My kids will decide for themselves who they support, as long as they support Leicester I dont care.

Hope that's okay with you??

Just to add my last Penny's worth on this due to the last response, I've met and loved many an English person and loads of foxes talkers, and most will say I am okay(Hopefully).

This has no basis on whether I choose to support the national team or not.

I've said why I dont BUT at the end of the day, if you have no feeling for that club or whatever you cant manipulate it just because people tell you that you should.

The love and passion that posters on here have shown to have for England, I can NEVER whip up.

That's the end of it.

As I've said, been on the end of plenty of racial abuse, not nice at all.  Completely sympathise with you on that.

It personally doesn't bother me if you decide not to support England, it wouldn't bother me if yours kids didn't either, plenty don't for whatever reason.  My issue was  with your own admission that you've been using your own experiences of 40+ years ago to deter your children from supporting their own country.  With reasoning that will only foster division, resentment and bitterness.

I maybe naive, but I believe football and the national team can be a major unifying force in a country that has been crazily divided of late.

Anyways, the Leicester City part we can always agree on :scarf:

Luckily not all people are as bitter as me.

My Mrs HATES it when I say things like what i do, she is asian too but was born and bred in Warwickshire so didnt have the racial stuff we did.

She believes i should forget all the crap that happened as most of you lot are pretty decent!!!!!

Like i said you cant help change how you feel.

Hope you can sort of understand my own feelings??

Take it easy x

Really weird day. Proper up for it this morning, every England song on I could find, proper excited for it. Even walked into my gym in suburban America with Rule Britannia blaring.

Then gommo Kane sticks one passed Kasper and all I could think of was that final game of the season and I could barely celebrate. Biggest England win and game for a long time and all I could think of was melted action man and how much I hate him.

I feel very different when Grealish, Foden or other inoffensive skilful players get on the ball. There’s just some really fvcking dislikable England players aren’t there? Got to the point where my mates were quoting Kasper’s comments this week at final whistle and I was defending him.

Anyone else?

So strange. You "hate" the Countries best striker?

A player that is never in the media for anything bad, he never acts like a knob off the pitch, he gets on with football and goes home.

How could you "barely celebrate" us winning a semi final lol

I never join in with the booing of Kane when he plays us. It's just weird.

Just to add to the debate on club v country, growing up a Leicester fan surrounded exclusively by non-Leicester fans I find being in a pub surrounded by people supporting the same team as me quite weird. I can't get into it that much. Especially as they're Londoners. I like the fact Leicester are unfashionable and people ignore us constantly. I find the "it's coming home stuff" and the all the celebrity tweets a bit off-putting. Knowhatimean?

Following an international team is a strange concept, really. You are backing players wholeheartedly for a month that for the remaining 23 months every two years you don't support or back and even wish to fail. You don't have an affinity with them but you back them because they are born in the same country.

I don't get the people wanting England to fail but I do understand those who feel a bit distant from it. But then I'm fully into it with the cricket team despite no players representing my county :dunno: Is football just too tribal? I do think having your own club players involved helps hugely; Maguire and Vardy being in the last World Cup definitely increased the interest.

Tribal definitely, and maybe a bit snobbish? I'll be honest that I find a lot of the part-time fans at these tournaments annoying.

And I think the debates (which are mostly online to be fair) have made me feel even more distant. The boycotting by some right wingers was hilarious of course but now I find the enthusiasm over how nice Gareth Southgate is and how the team represents modern England a bit forced.

I missed the boycott. Because Southgate defended his players for taking the knee? The team represents modern England because... there's two blank players on the pitch? I regret asking both questions to be honest now.

Also, I think I've scrolled past seventeen "Oh isn't Southgate a nice man" articles on the BBC. He plays shit defensive football in a waistcoast. Yes, he may achieve the greatest result in English football. But please. Get a grip.

Yeah, can see that. I mentioned in the grinding gears thread about politicians jumping on the bandwagon and no doubt many more will be "captivated" by it before ignoring football again two weeks later.

For all the part-timers and Ten German Bombers, No Surrender morons you'll have millions of passionate fans who just want to see a good football team and loads of youngsters getting into the game being hooked by it which is a fantastic upside.

Yep :)

Never said I barely celebrated the win, trust me I did. Just something thoroughly dislikable about Kane and can’t bring myself to be joyful when he scores.

Like I said, when players like Grealish or Foden get on the ball I’m willing them forward but there’s some really dislikable England players given our Leicester run ins.

On the final, I think we’re going to need something special to win it. Foden screamer would do nicely.

This Kane-hate is actually becoming really weird now.  Maybe it's time to move on eh?

Of course it all started when he created this odd vendetta against us after his loan, the lion thing on social media and always turning it on against us despite Spurs’ failings for many years. You’re right, hate is a strong word. I hated him during 15/16. Now it’s a strong dislike and finding him creepy.

That Spurs Amazon doc didn’t help in that regard. The team talks and dialogue with Mourinho just weirded me out.

Don’t get me wrong it will be incredible if we do it today and I’ll celebrate accordingly. Just won’t feel the exact same as a Leicester success to me. Some England players proper irk me, I can’t help it lol

Always wondered what went on during that loan with us. First time back he scores and runs in front of the Kop cupping his ear. Didn't think we ever gave him grief in fact the opposite being supportive of a young player trying to make a breakthrough. Perhaps just a bit immature.

He was one of those that really did believe that Spurs would win the Premier league in 15/16 and has been on a mission ever since. Perhaps it's still playing out in his head and probably will continue until he wins something bigger than the Aldi Cup.

I will go just as crazy if Kane scores tonight as any other England players despite our previous with him.

Tonight is about England, not Harry bleedin' Kane.

I’m overplaying it and half in wind up just because it’s irked a load on here lol

If any goal goes in tonight I’m going mental and if we win it, fvck me.

Let’s get back in here though at midnight when Chilwell has done his obligatory ‘look at me’ post and he’s thrown the trophy in the air a few times 👀
