So we are in the elite but the journo still has a big enough lack of respect to refer to the 'City game'

Did shake my head at that. Maybe we should all tweet Lineker and get him to start putting them straight.

Oooh what a lovely read on my break.

It's catching on, slowly but surely, that we're not little Leicester anymore.

BBC News - Premier League: How Leicester City joined football's elite

Regardless of whether or not we or the media are comfortable with it, we are light years ahead of the club we were when we won the league.

I think a lot of us remain grounded about where we are as a club. We know the hardest thing to do is build on success - our experience in the years between the title win and Brendan arriving is proof, and I wouldn't be so bold as to expect us to achieve what we did last year in terms of league finish and silverware.

There's a difference between expectation and ambition though, and our ambition is certainly growing with each passing season. That a lot of us now feel the Europa League is an achievable target shows that. Even last season I'd say that both it and the FA Cup were more of an "oh that'd be nice" than a "we can win this". Having bagged the FA Cup, I think we know the level we're working at makes the Europa a realistic ambition, though not one we'd take as a given until we're on the podium lifting the cup. It being a bye to the Champions' League (as a seeded team in Pot 1 no less) makes it a far more desirable prospect given our realistic league bracket is around 4th to 8th on current form.

It's a funny one really - for many league finish is the modern metric of success, but if you asked 100 Leicester fans which they'd rather have, I reckon you'd get 80+ saying they'd rather finish 5th - 7th and bag a trophy. Having won the league in such unexpected circumstances, while from a commercial standpoint it's obviously important to get into the top four to be seriously considered "elite", for us as fans winning things is far more important. You don't win anything for finishing fourth every year. Ask Spurs.

Personally, I'd make Europa League a priority for as long as we keep qualifying for it. It's our realistic path to the Champion's League. But it won't ruin my pride in the team or my perception of the entire season if we fall short, like it does for the entitled melts supporting other so-called "elite" teams, some of which we have now surpassed. My expectation, if I must be pushed into giving one, is a top half finish. My ambition is to continue qualifying for some form of European competition, and to challenge for silverware in all the cups we compete in.

An 'enigma'.

I like that. I like being that mysterious club that others don't understand. It's almost reflective of our 'lost' City.

Quietly, zlowly, stealthily - that's us. We don't need to shout.

Interesting fact; Brendan Rodgers' side will appear in their second Community Shield in six seasons when they play Manchester City at Wembley on Saturday. Only City themselves have been in more in that time.

Love the reference to an 'enigma' as well.

There is a cliche in business that when a CEO is featured in a publication, their company is likely to slide. It might be because it reflects hubris/arrogance/complacency etc.

A good example in football is Watford who gave a big feature in the Financial Times about how they operate and they were praised for the strategy. Either that season, or the following season they exited the PL.

I say it in a lot of threads, but we are so blessed and lucky to have the current ownership. I can’t think more competent owners in England, possibly the the world? They made mistakes as well in the early years - but clearly learnt from them.

Usually, the CEO and his staff are actually interviewed for those articles, though. Aside from Rodgers comments at his presser, this BBC article quotes a BBC employee and unnamed source "close to Leicester City.'

I am less concerned about an article that is trying to explain why a non-Big 6 team is playing tomorrow.

Another top 5 finish this season would be sensational. Certainly think we can go one better though

Depends on the quality of Wes's replacement.

That c**t Nino has cost us dear!!
