Regarding the general issue being discussed here, I'm on the fence.

One the one side, words are important as not all injuries are physical and also turning the the cheek often just emboldens words to become deeds, especially when there's less chance of accountability being held for those words in the first place (like the Scott Brown example above).

On the other, drilling someone because they've said something nasty to you isn't a solution for a variety of reasons, again as posited above.

There's no real solution, other than an attempt to educate people to be kinder and more empathetic in the first place.

Nothing compares to Cloughie slapping his own fans around. 😂

I remember that.
A couple of Forest fans apologised for invading the pitch then Cloughie met them later and gave them a big kiss! lol

Seems to me like everyone got what they deserved.

Cantona got an 8 month ban and loads of community service for assaulting somebody.

The fan got a well deserved kick in the head and will forever be known as the moron who was racially abusing Eric Cantona.

Was Cantona in the right? Maybe, maybe not, but it strikes me that the system worked well on this occasion. People aren’t perfect, they make mistakes but they need to be held accountable, and Cantona was.

Worth mentioning the offender upon hearing the verdict of the assault case, threw himself at the defending lawyer in attempting assault and ended up with a seven day sentence.

Then charged in later on in life with GBH and had a history of previous convictions before 1995.

More importantly. while Cantona was displaying his Kung Fu skills at Selhurst, Mark Robins netted the winner at Maine road in our rain soaked victory over the (not so) mighty Man City.

School shootings, where weirdos decide to kill people who they have decided have slighted them. Is that acceptable? Maybe if they'd just beaten them up? I mean they'd be as qualified as you to decide whether they deserved it?

Get a grip mate, that's actually disgusting linking school shootings to this

The world's gone mad.  More and more people think they're the legislative, executive and judicial branch of their own personal microstate.
