Battlefield 2042

Recommended Posts

Anyone got early access and playing this yet?

I'm really disappointed with it so far. I absolutely love battlefield in but this game so far has a distinct lack of features from previous Battlefield titles so quality of life has regressed.

No server browser. Disbanding lobbies after each game, no scoreboard, no incoming medic, weak audio and hit registration. No immersion. Too much verticality. Horrible UI. Specialists have cheesy catch lines.

The list of missing or lack of feature goes on and on.

I played the Beta a few weeks ago when that was out, didn't particularly impress me then and from it sounds like they haven't really improved on

Probably swerve it for a while and get it in a couple of years when they have released a load of updates and DLC etc. and can get one of those all in one versions on sale

I would of liked to at least try it out before buying because looking at videos on YouTube, it doesn’t look very good.

You can mate, 10 hour trial with ea play

That's what I'm doing atm.

Not going to lie, it's growing on me lol

It really isn't very good at all. Like OP I am a huge Battlefield fan but this feels like a cheap, soulless knock off. It controls like a mobile game. The guns feel horrific to use and are amazingly inaccurate unless you stand absolutely stock still (with the exception of the second SMG you unlock which everybody uses) and most of the maps feel far too big and far too open for infantry players. No scoreboard, can't create or manually join a squad in game, classes replaced with these annoying knobhead specialists, plus system means you don't have to put any thought into your loadout because you can equip yourself for basically any situation. I genuinely don't know who they're trying to appeal to because it's obviously not meant to cater to traditional Battlefield players but nor can I see something this buggy, awkward and messily designed pulling in players from stuff like Warzone and Apex.

No excuses for releasing a game in such a state but we all know what Battlefield releases are like.

Whilst a lot needs fixing I still do find the game very fun to play with friends.

However, the post-match one liners by the specialists in the end of round screen need binning off big time. I have no doubt they're probably going to monetize more lines in future thought.

Played this twice then never again and Sony wont give me a refund. I have learned my lesson about preordering and buying into hype.. their marketing (false advertising) ****ing got me.

Just saw they added a santa clause and cowboy skin. They really have sold out to get the cash from the 12 year old Fortnite players havent they 🤢

I was quite looking forward to this from the early info they put out. Played the trial and it felt like absolute trash.

Hoping that something good comes of it in the end, because I really enjoyed playing Battlefield 4.

After the absolute mess that was the launch of battlefront 2 and now this. I fear the once great Dice are now a total shadow of themselves, they're actually a joke. I don't know what sort of team they have there now compared to the glory days but my guess would be its almost totally different. They're heading the way of Bioware, who will be finished if their next game isn't a massive improvement on the last, 3 is it? You have to wonder how much of all this is EAs fault, who are just a total cancer on the industry.

Apparently the OG Battlefield devs all bailed in the last few years (probably due to EA) which I imagine is a massive reason. It just feels like a rush job that was released 6-12 months earlier than it should have been to compete with COD and Halo, and cash in while people were hyped. I think BF will go the way of other titles taken over by EA and die if they don't make some big changes soon.

It will be a shame if that is the case but it will leave a massive gap in the market. I think there are so many people who would love a game that's basically battlefield 2/4 but completely modern with all the bells and whistles and 128 players. If someone makes that game then I'm sure it would do very, very well. Vehicular combat, destructability, interesting maps, solid gunplay that's got a bit of depth to it, basically just what battlefield 2042 should have been.

what everyone's thoughts on this?

I'm usually a battlefield fan but I've heard very mixed reviews so far would you invest now or wait till its dropped down in price later down the line?

If you're expecting a battlefield game like previous titles. Don't buy it. It's horrible.

Everything about it is absolutely broken.

thank you for your feedback I've enjoyed previous battlefield titles.

but it seems people have even turned to call of duty now.

so if its that bad I will save myself £60 for something I will enjoy thanks again

Honestly, you've done the best thing not getting it.

Even with various patches and content update over next few months the underlying gameplay, map design, game choices and UI is truly awful.

I'd stick with previous battlefield titles if you own them.

Loads have requested refunds and player count has dropped so rapidly even farming simulator now has more concurrent players.

thats such a shame as battlefield is such an awesome game and I've played for many years now.

but at this moment I'm playing call of duty and enjoying it but gutted battlefield isn't what it hyped up to be.
