So he’s actually bringing a hell of a lot more than Kalechi. Daka will be absolutely fine, he’s literally got two areas of his game to clean up and he will be a excellent player in this league. The fact remains we need money, and I think we could easily get £25m for Kalechi. So is it fair to say you’ll see CDK’s primary position to be as a right winger & if so do you think he will play predominately as an inverted winger? I agree with you on Daka, just with Vardy’s injury record of late I don’t feel comfortable in simply depending on Daka. 1

I don't see a player of CDK's profile coming in to be 2nd / 3rd choice striker. I actually could see us going for Ali-Cho as the RW and striker hybrid and take a punt that he's going to progress rapidly.
Ric Flair Posted 25 May 2022 Posted 25 May 2022 I'm already regretting my list, I wanted to get Ludovic Blas in as the ACM / RW hybrid which I'd probably look to do as Plan B after Madueke and then the forward would be Piroe who wouldn't expect to play regularly like CDK would.

honeybradger Posted 25 May 2022 Posted 25 May 2022 Only player that we've be linked to that really excites me is aouar, seems to fit our profile of being ridiculously talented but going through a rough period which means the top clubs aren't interested. If we sign him I can see him going off to Man City in a couple of seasons for 65m to replace gundogan, at 13mil he looks like a steal.
Staff Posted 25 May 2022 Posted 25 May 2022 I read Julian Von Moos and thought it said Jonathon Moss 😂 1

It took him a long time to go overseas and he might just be unsettled here, but we would have loved to have picked him up a few years ago.

For me you are replacing a forward with a creative midfielder… Which would require investing in another forward as personally I don’t feel comfortable yet to depend on Daka as our number 2. ...CDK is not a creative midfielder, second striker or main striker, can play with his back to goal and link the play!!!

Much more realistic both in terms of valuations and targets. I’m surprised you didn’t include Brennan johnson in the right wing consideration and CDK as first choice forward. Sounds like we are quite advanced on that one and I can see him doing well here. Ali Cho wouldn’t be a bad second though. 1

I don't see CDK coming here as 2nd or 3rd choice forward if we are going to get the right winger in we are anticipating.

He is built like Maddison and seems to know where to be, to get rebounds and take advantage of mistakes. For a team that struggles with heading the ball (us), this player has scored more with his head than we have in the last five years. He hasn't got the back foot turn of Maddison, but in all other ways he is just as efficient.

I’m not totally convinced about the reasoning on CDK as it shows a lack of ambition and confidence on both the player and the club that we can get to where we want to be. Regularly challenging the greedy six and playing in Europe. If we think he will develop as we hope we won’t be able to afford him later. 1

That's the problems we face, no Europe means that it's very difficult to offer regular football to the majority of the squad and this is why very versatile players tend to be favoured in some positions to be able to do so. If we suffer a lot of injuries again then there's never enough players we can own as a 25 man squad isn't big enough but I think we'll try and rectify that rather than concede we'll get lots of injuries again. I can see us going for a very unproven 3rd striker who can play in a front 2 or on the wing - enter Ali-Cho.

Can play one touch football, link, score goals and more importantly the ball will stick, when played into him.

But he's not going to come here as 3rd choice and Daka isn't going to be relegated to 3rd choice either. The only way we get CDK is if we consider him versatile enough to be the RW signing which bothers me greatly. Look at nearly every PL side worth their salt and how many of them have 3 strikers? They tend to have multi dimensional forwards, most of them don't even have 2 like we do. It's a challenge. 5 subs makes it a bit easier next season to still give players some football but that's why I think we'll take a punt on someone like Ali-Cho or Piroe over CDK.
Supergray22 Posted 26 May 2022 Posted 26 May 2022 That was my initial logic too. But Vardy won’t be around for much longer and will play less. Daka isn’t quite there but will learn more from him and will get better. If we want to increase competition both in the short and long term then this is what a club with ambition of really competing at the top level would look to do. This all depends on funds and priorities though and what we could get him for. I’m quite cautious as a person and if it was me I’d probably do what you say but in a confident and positively ambitious mood I’d probably advise giving him a punt. I love Kel as a player and person but he can be frustrating in his hold up play, retention and consistency. If we got decent money for him then this may be a sensible ploy. I was a central midfielder and later CD so I tend to favour those positions but goals win matches at both ends. Kel is a natural goal scorer but if we linked play better and more consistently this would improve across the team and I think CDK could do that. Noted it is always a risk. I’m not too fussed either way but I think this will be what the club will be weighing up.
