I am not kidding when I say the run was to the scene of old blokes fishing out of the sea and literally whacking Octopus against rocks to kill it and then the random moment where near the meeting point/finish point, there was a gang of kids letting off those huge flash bombs which make a right rocket noise.

What a country

Slightly scaled down plans from trying to kill/bankrupt myself in the Sahara, I might sign up for an Ultra in Scotland in May.

The question now is one day or two, 50k or 110k. Realistically, if the longest distance I’ve ever done is a marathon (without stopping but some uphill walking), with 6 months training could I more than double that distance? My gut tells me if I didn’t sign up for the 2 day one I’d regret it but genuinely no idea if it’s doable.

My first ultra was 52K following on from a marathon followed by a 50 miler the year after. As much as I’m a ‘f*** it what’s the worst that could happen’ type of girl, I’m glad I did it that way round. As chilled as ultras are the training is a whole different beast. Personally I’d go for the 50K then go bigger the next year.

Thanks, that’s probably very wise.

You don't have to do that much man

"On race morning itself (3-4 hours prior), consume a smaller meal of 1-4 g of carbs per kg of body weight (90g to 360g for a 90kg person).

maybe i am on the upper limit...

Back in the saddle now and doing 15km (or more) a day until the next time I have a bev on Friday 12th Dec, day 4 today

Eyeing up that bloody horrible looking weather on Sat for a silly distance

Like a Deano back off the wagon, going hill walking, getting their teeth sorted and correcting awful tattoos into bad tattoos.

How do your legs feel doing back to back long runs? Going to try something similar for the next couple of days if I can get up early enough on Saturday.

Legs don't feel too bad brother but I'm not really focusing on time, more just distance in – just whacking podcasts on and nipping out for it. A combo of colder weather + a month or so off would just mean my hammies would be finished if I gunned it.

Making sure I'm getting enough water down my neck and having a proper hot bath when I'm back seems to be working so far

Did a 10 miler to town which was a struggle after leg day yesterday and having a bit of a cold. Really didn’t appreciate some crack head screaming at me forcing me to sprint a few hundred metres 😂

Sorry about that, I was cheering you on :chant:

A miserable 5 miles this morning. Everything soaked through within about half a mile.

Think it got me moving quicker as I got my 2nd fastest 5k time. Hope the weathers drier for tomorrows long run.

Predictably, couldn’t be arsed to get out of bed this morning but it meant I went for a head clearing 5K when I got back from the football.

Avoided the canal today, maybe because I’d have thrown myself in it or maybe because I didn’t want to get chased by @stretch1965 again.

I am fcuked. Got the physio on Tuesday to work out what is causing this foot pain. Not ideal this.

Not good, think the only thing for PF is rest isn’t it?

Absolutely the same here 🤣 leaving the match on 30 mins enabled me to get a 5k in before dark though 🤣

I'm not sure it is that now, its on the lateral part of the edge of my foot rather than heel. It's seemingly changing. It start with the worst sore calves, although the other one presented no pain in that foot as well. Been stretching and rolling calves all week and mild improvement and the foot pain has subsequently changed. Will see what the physio says on Tues. May try a short run/walk tomorrow to test what happens.

It's not plantar fasciitis i'm suffering with, it's peroneal tendonitis. Neither have a quick recovery time when it comes to wanting to embark on a training block for a specific marathon.

How odd is this weather. Ten or so days ago I'm putting base layer, leggings, hat and gloves on and not really fancying it at all. Last few days been out in t shirt and shorts. Absolutely mad stuff.

Also caved in and bought even more shoes. Gone for the Adizero Evo SL, have a few different ones on rotation now
