Still got the bug, started running in July after getting a place in the London Marathon through the ballot. I literally couldn’t run a mile without stopping and it was taking me over 11 mins to do a mile.

Ran over 420 miles since then and lost just under 5 stone (since mid may) and absolutely delighted with the progress made - can’t wait till the end of April now.

They are excellent times mate and congrats on the weight loss. Great that you carried on, so many people give up after they have to stop a few times because they are blowing.

Love reading stuff like this so keep us informed with the training and good luck with the LM

That's so so impressive mate, massive achievement both in the running and the weight loss.

All the best for the marathon!

Couldn't get to the parkrun because of sheer volume of traffic so missed the start 😂

Honestly reckon could be 1000 people doing it, cars parked everywhere. Just jogged it around lightly, no chance of any speed at any point.

Will go out in a bit for a long run though

Wow Braunstone parkrun was heaving this morning! Great to see but absolutely no chance of anybody getting their PB lol

Over 800 there, the start was crazy with the sun directly in everyone's eyes. Slow first lap before it thinned out a bit, then the finish was crazy busy.

All good, no one obsessed by a time on Xmas Day and all in good spirits.

Officially was 949 people who barcoded. Was definitely loads more who thought **** the time let's go now, as had to queue for the finish 😂

Done a marathon today though. Weather is great except some bastard strong winds at some points on the open roads. Got an elapsed time of 3:37, the moving time was 3:27 but stopped for a phone call and also to shove sweets and a drink down my neck at 24km.

Would still love to be sub 3 hours long term but it's hard work, I think I could do sub 3:20 right now in an event with a bit of good luck

Nutter 😂 fair play, great time as well. Unless you were completely flat out you would definitely be able to do that at an event. Granted it was downhill, but I accidentally ran my fastest 5 and 10k times in the first half of my marathon just by getting carried away running in a group.

I’ll go out and do a longer run tomorrow morning before our game.

Yeah I think so mate. Elevation wasn't fun in places either think was about 130m gain or something. Strava still has my prediction at 3:09 but that's definitely ambitious I think.

Yeah it's ridiculous how events add so much speed to you with the competition side of it.

Smaller type recovery for me before our game tomorrow, probably a ten k max. Would rather do another marathon than go watch us at the minute 😂

Looking back at this year, pleased to have done a few 10Ks and managed my first half marathon.

What races have people got planned for next year?

Desford 6 at the end of Jan East leake triathlon then the Chester Triple series which is 10k, half m and marathon. Will no doubt end up doing the Benidorm half again with the running club.

Had some form of flu/infection that my inhaler and medication are resistant to. Terrific.

Been prescribed something that should sort it but my chemists have tucked me up last week and claimed they couldn't get the medication until next week. I have seen a message on my phone from them though saying it was ready to collect. Arseholes.

My running is in tatters at the minute. Did Abbey Park park run yesterday and nearly snuffed it.

The cold is really rough on my chest when running. Did 5k the other day and very nearly stopped a minute in. Hopefully whatever the chemist has given you sorts you out.

I’ve managed to get back moving after a real slump in motivation. The 5k times are coming down now.

I did Mildenhall Hub Parkrun on Saturday. Love little un with decent people on it.

Will do a small jog tomorrow then hoping to do the parkrun on NYD and get a PB depending how busy it is. Done 320km in December alone which is the first time I've broken 300km a month. Think I will scale it back in Jan, not the activities just the mileage

Got my first Garmin watch for Christmas. Any tips/tricks that I should try out?

Also got a pair of conductor headphones which are cool but the sound quality is patchy, any pointers there as well?

No conductor headphones don’t have the best sound quality tbf, I tend to listen to podcasts rather than music when out on a run as a result.

Which watch did you get?

Properly lost my mojo

9 week injury layoff didn't help but ive had no excuse the last 3 weeks or so. Need to get back on it and try and fill the diary with races next year (after only running 1 all last year due to various injuries throughout the year).
