Ah right, we were in Perranporth last year at Perran Sands Haven. The way up and down to the beach was a let down (hence going to Hayle this time) but Perranporth town beach was lovely. I saw they had the World Cup games showing on the beach there. Did you go down there at all for them?

 

It always seems to feel nicely cooler down there though, being a fairly thin strip between the Atlantic and English Channel.

This was a partial success, in that I reckon I probably stopped about 100 litres from going down the drain and I'm sure the trees and shrubs appreciated it. 

 

My wife did not, as because the end of the outlet was submerged instead of sitting above the drain, the water in the shower and sink would not flow away freely, leading to all sorts of exciting glugging sounds from the bathroom suite and a real threat of the shower overflowing of if you're incapable of showering in less than 10 minutes (everyone in my house except yours truly).

 

Also, whilst it's fine to capture grey water and chuck it on the garden, you've got to use it in real time because there's bacteria and stuff in it that becomes an issue if you store it, so a water butt or anything like that is out of the question

I actually didn't go down to the beach for the football, I was going to if we got through when we didn't. 

Is the way down from the haven that weird zig zag stair thing? Never been over there, only been in the town beach. Only moved here a few weeks ago and loving it

That’s the one. Right effort back up! Shame as the town beach was a bit far over the coastal path with a little one so we drove into Perranporth. But the town beach was really good with the pools under the cliffs and the natural pool in the rocks. 
 

Definitely envious of you living down there!

Of all the negative effects of the excessive heat, none of them are as bad as me reading about Raj having sweaty malteser like balls.  I did love maltesers but think it'll be a while before I eat another one...

A brutal walk in the heat but a lovely beach.

Cheers fella. Holidayed in Cornwall before and wished I could live here

Then I moved to Cornwall when I joined here about 10 months ago. 

Moved to where I am now at the end of June.

It's as amazing as you'd imagine living here, I'm very lucky and very happy.

Whilst it’s approx 5c cooler in the e midlands today, the dew point is much higher and it actually ‘feels’ the same as yesterday. Infact, given that its more humid, it may feel more uncomfortable

Still expected to be around 31 or 32 down here but does seems more humid today.

Looks like the last 30+ day for at least another 12 days.

 

Fortunately we had grown-ups in the room regarding the aircon so much more bearable.

Thank goodness it was bin day, I put some stuff in mine last night and we had a new entry in the top 5 worst ever smells, and there wasn't even much in there. Walking around the neighbourhood last night confirmed this was mercifully not just my problem. 

 

If it rains later as the BBC forecast is now optimistically saying it will, you can thank me as I've emptied out my shed so my lawn is covered in tools, electrical items, cardboard boxes etc, exactly the stuff you wouldn't want to get rained on

Whilst I’d never wish time with young children away, the s**t filled nappies in the bin in this heat hasn’t been great for the senses.

I don't get the feeling it's going to rain :(
