Is it just the 20th placed team that goes into the first round of the League Cup?

Depends on West Ham

If England have 8 teams in Europe (West Ham win Conference League) then all Championship teams play in the first round.

If England only have 7 teams in Europe then only 22 Championship teams start in Round 1 - (18th & 19th in the PL from the previous season enter at round 2)

Look, I have been a big advocate for standing up for the players throughout the season when they have been slaughtered. So I understand the point of giving them a chance in a fresh start. So yeah I get that.

As I say, one of Ricardo or Justin yes. Both though no. But due to the injuries not the type of players or their mentalities.

I just done agree Ndidi has the mentality for the championship. Same with Castagne and the like.

Faes has genuinely just forgotten hence not mentioned on either side of the coin. Undecided on him, started well but been poor for a while but for me comes in the category we have agreed on above about in a poor team etc. I would agree his natural traits could be more suited to the championship so yes, keep.

You're looking at things from the wrong base. you're telling me ricardo isn't good enough for the champo, thats ridiculous.

why doesn't ndidi have the mentality?

faes has forgotten what?

You’re not reading what I’m saying!

Where did I say Ricardo is not good enough for the championship? I didn’t that’s where. I said that both Ricardo and Justin seem to be perennially injured so I would be concerned at having both of them as our right back options for a 46 game, physical championship season. One yes, either one, but not both.

Ndidi, I just don’t see a guy who will get his hands dirty anymore. Seems to stroll around the pitch and want too much time on the ball and constantly gives it away under pressure. I’d sooner keep Mendy if we could. Maybe mentality was the wrong word. Style, I think his style is not suited and that’s my opinion. You clearly have yours.

You are missing the point that it’s not just about whether a player is good enough or not. Different players will be suited to different leagues. Why do you think so many players from overseas don’t work out in England? And even between the Premier League and championship it is not exactly the same game in the way it played and the teams you face.

And I didn’t say Faes forgot anything (other than maybe his haircut appointment). I said I had forgotten about him and agreed that ability and style wise, I think he’d do alright so would be fine keeping him but also not fussed if he does want to go back abroad.

Ultimately, physicality wise and fight wise, we have been exposed badly this season with having players who are too brittle both physically and mentally. That will be even more so in the championship as it is a tougher league (physically tougher not better quality). Even if financially we did keep this squad together, it would be an unmitigated disaster!

These will be sold surely?

Ricardo ain’t going nowhere he is crocked constantly. Who’s gonna buy an injury prone old player on big wages??

The bad news is our nearest derby unless Cov fail to go up. Will be Stoke.... bit of dull derby day.

Correction: Birmingham and West Brom, though them the away days will be dull also. St Andrews is a reduced capacity and the Hawthorns is like a cemetery.

Strangely, I'm looking forward to enjoying watching the PL again. This year has been a constant maths exercise in looking at how clubs around us are doing. Be nice to just watch for enjoyment again!

Fair point, but I imagine we'll be cutting his wages anyway which might make a move to Turkey more appetising

Faes started well? He scored two own-goals in his first match :scarf:
