To give an idea of this isn’t a foregone conclusion (or it is dependent on your point of view)

18 more wins gets us to 93 which would represent an average for promotion from the last ten years.

That’s 1.68 per game for the rest of the season which if achieved for an entire reason is 77 points. So still a bit to run.

ipswich have a great little run of fixtures coming for them. Birmingham, Rotherham, Swansea, WBA, Millwall, Coventry. Do have a hard spell at Xmas

Leeds bit of a mixed bag. Leicester, Plymouth, Rotherham, Swansea and Middlesbrough.

We hit December in this shape - well on for it but this needs sustaining

We will have to gamble and immediately reinvest the promotion money we don't spend on buy obligatons on a Fofana-tier defender to replace Vestergaard, and if Iheanacho and Ndidi leave, players of a similar calibre. Its not going to leave us with a lot of wiggle room for other positions that we'd probably like to strengthen like the outside CBs.

If we can find someone to convert chances and someone as good as Fofana to play Vestergaard's role, I'm confident we'd stay up with no issues.

He’s become our best and most important CB because he’s being used in a system that brings out his strengths. Look at his passing ability and stats and its importance in our first line of attack. Why replace him? He’s not the Vestergaard that was reduced to all his weaknesses in the way the Rodgers utilised him.
I doubt we could find or afford another Fofana. All the players we have are also still new to our system. They’ll all keep getting even better.

Let's get there first.

When one is already there, often too late, to prevent.

AND I am asking, from a self-centred, somewhat  premature point of interest:cheers:

This is a great question by the OP, and we do have an insight by looking at Burnley, yes there situation is a bit different to ours, but we must learn from this potential situation if we go up.

We have to make the next 2 transfer windows count, and finish this campaign with at least 8 to 9 players, and the Goal keeper we currently have, so we hit the Prem next season well versed and with continuity, listening to Drinkwater talk about the team spirit, belief, and togetherness when he was at the foxes, is absolutely where we should / need to be at with the squad, in pre-season next year, with a nucleus of players at that stage, we have started the rebuild well, but must prepare now for what potentially lies ahead, whilst continuing to enjoy our good run at present.

I think we are miles ahead of the bottom 3 because the bottom 3 are just THAT POOR, but I don't for a second buy into the general FT hype about how good we are atm, we are far better than this league, but the difference between championship and premier league is huge, and we are too wasteful in attack and gift too many opportunities to the opposition, we just have the quality to see it through and are not often punished for very poor mistakes, in the premier league we will be punished for the mistakes we are making.

We will need multiple signings, next season will be harder than this season is in the premier league.
Plenty of time to improve, but I think at the moment our "weaknesses" (relative to the premier league) will only be solved by signings rather than "clicking"
In the current premier league I think we would stay up with a comfortable enough points margin.

# When do we consider right time to plan for PL-player-investment
January. We need improvements.

# would Mcateer,Fasanwu,Mavididi,Braybrooke,Alves,Cannon,Winks,Justin,Faes

be the considered remainers, with xx experienced player investment, enough quality

    to avoid a depressing start
Based on this season so far, Mcateer, Fatawu, Winks, Faes are all good enough to step up. Mavididi has been pretty average imo, could step up but ideally would be a position we improve with a signing (but still has time to come good), Braybrooke and Alves are great long-term prospects, Cannon is unproven, Justin has been okay but has not really excelled at this level yet, needs to improve.
I think we need a CB, LB, LW, ST, and potentially a CM depending on how much Ndidi continues to improve and whether Alves can step up when fit.

## can our rebuild plus an evolving Enzo-system,be enough to hold us in good stead

for a consolidating, 14-10 league position, even a small pleasant suprise
I think so, I think there are at least 5 teams in the premier league next season that could easily be worse than us, and I think we will progress between now and next season naturally should we get promoted, I think we have enough to be better than the 2 teams that would come up with us, and the likes of Bournemouth, Forest and potentially Everton. (again, providing we go up)

## It’s far too early to consider anything, let’s just enjoy the ride..

## We have faced L’pool twice, with our new aspiring ideas…Can we compete next season

      and make 3rd time lucky
No, I think fundamentally our system can work against teams like Liverpool but you NEED top quality players to make it work at that level. Right now it's fine and I think it would be okay vs many prem teams, but high-pressing teams like Liverpool will be our Achilles heel imo and expose players who are not completely switched on at all times, something so far we have not always been. But losing to Liverpool as an Achilles heel is nothing to worry about.

## Are you desperate for Enzo to stay & carry his ideology further with Leicester..

Enzo has done an absolutely phenomenal job but I think we are all very aware now that we never should have gone down, and the step up is huge, so right now the answer is yes, he has done an incredible job and shifted the entire culture pretty much immediately, but next season is absolutely pivotal to see if he has the ability to adapt, everyone was raving about Kompany last season and now his flaws are being massively exposed, so Enzo has loads of credit in the bank with me, but that won't translate into endless loyalty if we struggle next season and he refuses to adapt.

+++Normally I wouldn’t start such a topic…but some of you know my predicament,

1-4yrs…?? Awhile back. Not sure about your predicament but hope you're well

## Is this a good platform for a new ,better era, than we have experienced in the short or any of our past?
Yeah I think the foundation is one that is very solid, and even if it doesnt work out long term for Enzo or if he is given a huge opportunity elsewhere, he will be leaving us in a much better position than the one he inherited.

## do you think we can handle the coming challenge better than the 3 teams above.
Yeah I think we are comfortably better than them, but it all really depends on how our system adapts to the premier league given the obvious lack of quality we have compared to Man City who play similarly.

Also, I know there have been poor results in there against Brentford and Bournemouth, but Burnley have already played Man City, Villa, Spurs, Newcastle, Utd, and Chelsea.

There is a gulf between the Premier League and the Championship - no one is denying that, but the question is can we avoid being one of the worst 3 teams - not will we reproduce this season's form.

The fact is, if we go up, we won't be starting from scratch in the way Luton or maybe Sheffield United are this year - we will still be a team that has a lot of Premier League infrastructure, won't have the "happy to be here" mentality and will be a team that has had 4 top 10 Premier League finishes in the previous 6 years and a healthy amount of players with that experience.

The big thing for me is that Enzo isn't viewing this as a one year project - he is still implementing his methods, getting his players to buy in, learning how to adapt to different game plans, and he is only just starting to build the squad he wants. The results so far speak for themselves, but with further evolving and a couple more shrewd signings in the mould of Hermanson & Winks & I can't see why there isn't a top 10 team in there again.

I am already concerned about next season.

The way we play is similar to Burnley last season, and being honest how many of the current crop would you say are Premier League quality?

I'd say Hermansen (who could still be a bit iffy/Meslier-esque) Winks, KDH and that's about it.

I think many are overlooking the importance of a decent coach. Look at Brendan and how things got continually worse. Right coach and right players is an absolute must.

Chelsea - some of the top young stars in the world but languishing 10th. Fulham been a yo to club for years but get the right coach and they look capable.

If Enzo has a year to instill a style and values, that is worth a lot. Even bloody Forest stayed up last year because Cooper got a tune out of them.

Great run down..

Nice all round, solid balanced attitudes from all posters that responded..

Shows, IMO we have a good balanced fan base, that enjoy their clubs football on and off the pitch.. KNEE JERK, doesn't last long into the week if there is momentum & progress.. And patience from the fan base, when they feel club /player / manager is responding & earning the plaudits.

5 pages, and no miserable post.   We accept potential problems in this refreshing tenure..

Recognizing that the smooth glide into

Premiership is no longer a given.
