Out of Contract Summer 24 …… let’s get excited about nothing.

End of 2024 rather than in the summer has some South American lads I've suggested before, Valentin Gomez, Aravena, Juan Sforza. Sebastián Cáceres is also out of contract in December. Roger Fernandes from Braga in the summer is an interesting one.

Yeah Fernandes is very intruiging, as is Gabriel Misehouy from Ajax. Not sure if he's got suspect advisors but really surprising he's leaving Ajax. Huge talent.

It is a market we need to do more in, especially in light of how appalling we are at moving players on when we no longer want them.

Saving on transfer fees can help alleviate some of that burden and possibly make it more attractive for buyers, obviously we need to continue to lower our wage bill too.

Some realistic targets from outside the top leagues:

Luka Ilic - Troyes

Callum O'Hare - Coventry

Nico Melamed - Espanyol

Nathan Wood - Swansea (inverted full back candidate)

Harrison Burrows - Peterborough (LCB/inverted full back candidate)

Bence Dardai - Hertha Berlin

Gabriel Misehouy - Ajax (huge talent and is leaving this summer which is a big surprise)

Sinclair Armstrong - QPR (I'm convinced he's a superstar in the making. Seen flashes of it this season)

Pedro Santos - Benfica

Is O'Hare actually any good though? Before the game at their place I had never heard of him, and his numbers this season are very average. 7 goal contributions in the league for an "attacking midfielder", KDH has three times that.

Obviously we'll be going through another big rebuild this summer and if we do go up I think we'd be in a good spot to take a punt on him, but putting any kind of expectation on him to perform in the Prem would be misplaced imo.

O'Hare has only started playing again in mid December, he has 9 goals and 2 assists in 19 games. He's got a lot of ability and is a low risk punt as long as we were sensible on wages, he's rejected a £25k a week new deal at Cov, but you'd imagine a £2m signing on fee or more and £30-35k a week would do it if we go up. I'd take the chance.

Fair enough. Would be class to piss off Cov fans too.

Couple youngsters for the u21s. We will probably just sign Villa rejects though :P

Amario Duberry - 18 year old left footed winger from Arsenal. 5 goals and 2 assists in 8 appearances for their u21s this season.

Omari Forson - left footed right winger from Man Utd.

Max Alleyne - Man City CB.

Micah Hamilton - Man City left winger, he recently made his first team debut.

Lewis Warrington - Everton CM, played 38 games in league one last season.

Really want us to go for Gomez and Aravena. I'd look at Gomez over Doyle, especially if come the Summer Man City are asking for a biggish fee.

Charlie Webster from Chelsea as a back up to Winks, currently on loan at Herenveen.

Not doubting their potential ability (know nothing about them) but, I do think we need some experience in the side perhaps and not just more young prospects for the future, we're going to have a young inexperienced squad in some positions as it is. They need to be able to play in the Premiership now if we go up.

What will be interesting with FFP is whether this changes the demands of players and actually if this gives a little bit of power back to the clubs. The landscape has changed over the last 12 months and I wouldn’t be surprised if this coming summer, some players who were expecting to move for a bumper pay day, now end up extending with their current club on reduced terms.

Top players will always do well from this scenario as they will move to the big clubs who aren’t as constrained but players such as Vesty, Praet, Albrighton, even Kelechi and Vards will  struggle to get anywhere near there current deals and renewing with us at 50%-60% of current deal may still be the most lucrative option. This could present us with an option to keep one or two of our choosing that we perhaps didn’t envisage was possible 12-18 months ago.

I'd imagine the opposite, players out of contract will become more popular as team look to avoid paying transfer fees.
