Got absolutely rocked there, wow lol

When are the organisers in the US going to realise this isn’t a suburbs game for 99% of the world and actually put decent segregation in during WC 26?

All it takes is my mate @The_77 to make a comment about Pulisic stood next to me at the Met Life and we’re ****ing tangoing, baby!!!

You better watch out, I’m going to Colombia later this year and I’m coming back with that guy’s overhand right 😂

Genuine question, have you seen big cities get taken over by street fighting and hooligans during tournaments in the past?

Netherlands were at it again today. You’d think a few officers with assault rifles on show might be a deterrent, but you never know. Interested to know what to expect in two years.

That was likely his intention but as the champ Mike Tyson once said: everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth. lol

That second half by Colombia was one of the gutsiest performances I’ve ever seen, they could have easily won 3-0.  They’ve been running their balls off all tournament on short rest and in ridiculous heat and humidity but show no signs of slowing down.

It was an insane performance 2nd half and I think shows why they are the team to beat not argentina.

No. 1994 was very peaceful and there wasn’t any major violence the last time the Copa America was hosted in the States in 2016. There are always skirmishes around USA vs. Mexico but it’s all very isolated.

The worst we generally see is the occasional celebratory riot when a team wins a title but even those are becoming rarer.

That there are large communities already in the States who are actually from the various participating countries certainly helps stem the violence (people generally learn to live with each other in the bigger cities), plus the police are, shall we say, a bit less diplomatic about that sort of thing here. lol

I have no idea what’s going to happen in 2026, though, and I haven’t seen what the ticket plans are. With the expanded format, I think everyone might be misguided in expecting a festival like the Olympics.

I think you’re right on that. 28 games unbeaten as well.

I hope they still have something left in the tank for Sunday after this run!

It's the passion, desire, fight that you don't see in other teams this tournament. Really hope they win it over argentina.

I'd rather it were Canada but it's not so Colombia gets my finals support.

Sport in US stadiums is quite odd from the experience of an english fan, theres very little in the way of trained stewards that we have, its just usually security/policeand as long as you dont run on the pitch don't seem interested in doing anything else.  They'll be fights breaking out and people being knocked out without security doing anything, even after that there seems little time spent on finding out who did what.  And theres no real segregation and anyone can buy tickets for anywhere in any stadium.

Given how lax the security is and how little is done to prevent trouble, its amazing there isnt more violence in the US, I guess it shows how well behaved they are, because if those same 'rules' were in place in europe they'd be chaos.

Obviously never heard of the Raiders (NFL) eh?

I lived the first four decades of my life in the U.S. and attended countless professional sporting events in numerous sports. While it's true there's generally so segregation in seating like there is with European/Latin American football or Japanese baseball (for totally different reasons) I certainly saw plenty of fights. And in my experience security was always pretty quick to descend on the scene.

You're agreeing with me though, I never said there was no trouble I clearly stated there was.  There's plenty of footage showing fights breaking out with no-one around, in some cases fans being knocked out and nothing, no arrests.  All this done with little to no segregation and a lack of security.  Add to the fact intelligence to combat violence in the US simply doesnt exist its more a reactionary response if something happened.  Fans can be banned but its rare, and even if you were banned getting around it is easy due to the lack of any organization supervising it.

It's completely different in Europe and like i said if we had the same organistaion of sporting events it'll be chaos.

It's a complement to the US sport fans that it isnt chaos. Add to this the fact fans can turn up hours before and drink all the time including in the stands it makes it even more amazing their isnt serious problems in the states.

I do often wonder with the growth of 'soccer' and the MLS that it might increase violence and maybe the auhorities would change how things are done, my guess is they wouldn't.

Same applies in every international competition no? In this example, it was hardly the cheap seats either given its where the families were located?

I would say the tazers and firearms carried by the many dozens of police at the stadiums is more than little done to prevent violence. 😂

I could write a dissertation on why there just isn’t as much sports-related violence here— the history of clubs vs. franchises, the hyper locality of the game in Europe, and significant differences in social dynamics all contribute. Anyway, and unfortunately, we more than make up for the lack of sports-related violence in plenty of other ways.

Kone was the best player on the pitch that half.

We could easily be up a goal or two.

Interesting to see if Marsch will bring on the big guns for the second half.
