Southampton probably need to think about next season's promotion push rather than staying up.  I’m not sure there’s much point in them going to all the expense of replacing the manager.

As for Wolves, it must be demoralising seeing all of your best teammates get sold.  I’m not sure a new manager could solve that.  Maybe someone like Moyes could sort their defence out.

Wolves don't seem able to defend which was a strong point in the past which means any attacking threat is cancelled out unless they have a good day

Seems to be more sympathetic feeling towards neural fans for O’Neil than from wolves fans who are just fed up I think naturally.

If we can get away from the relegation zone, so can Wolves. They probably need to change their manager though - it seems they need a fresh start.

Agreed, they have sold a lot of their best players but they are more than capable of stringing a few results under a new manager. The game against them at home is huge

As questionable as our defence is, I genuinely think theirs is worse and they don't have Hermansen behind it.

Doesn't really matter that you've got some quality forwards if you've got the single worst defence in the league.

As we saw a couple of years ago. Our attack then was better than Wolves' this season, too.

I genuinely don't see changing the manager doing much for them - I just don't think their squad is very good.

Wolves sold 2 players of note. Neto, who has spent about half his time at Wolves injured and Max Kilman, a defender who is playing in an (almost) equally shit defence at West Ham.  That brought in €100mill+.  For the starting 11 they've bought in no defenders with Mosquera coming back from loan (now injured), a goalkeeper that they've been chopping and changing with Sa who he was meant to replace.  Andre as a DM for decent money.  Their sales are not nearly as crippling to the side as they appear to be.  But their purchases look a right mess.  They've got Borges on loan, a player that some on FT were creaming over the idea of signing when he left Man City, and he doesn't feature for them.  If the players they have are good enough then it's got to be that O'Neill is the problem like Cooper was for us.  A manager so scared of conceding that he perplexingly sets up to sit in, try to stay in the game and steal something, despite clearly not having the ability to do so.  But that doesn't seem to be what Wolves fans are saying about the set up.  It doesn't even change on a game by game basis, it changes every 10 minutes.  And not for the better.

I do think O'Neil will go on to be a decent manager but just seems to have gone really stale. I don't think it's always as simple as the manager being shit

He speaks well but has the vibe of a loser, a bit like Cooper. I can see why Wolves fans are frustrated

I can see him pigeonholing himself as one of these "firefighter" managers like a Big Sam, Neil Warnock type. Longevity wise I don't think he quite has it yet but he's young so has time to learn. In the premier league you don't get that time to learn at a club

Such a brilliant manager.

When Toney was banned, everyone said Brentford wouldn't score goals, but they ended up scoring even more without him. Rather than having a fixed style, he's a master of adaptation, he tailors each match tactically to exploit opposition weaknesses, more than any other manager in the league.

Just a masterful tactician with seemingly great man management too. Would love to see him managing us one day.

From what I've watched of them they seem to play a high-risk/high-reward style of footy, it's very entertaining to watch, which probably explains why they've scored and conceded so many early goals.

I think they'll get a win against either us or Ipswich.

What a bold ****ing prediction. Would you like to divine that it's going to rain some time this week n'all?

I think they'll beat Ipswich. Neither side can defend adequately but Wolves still have the ability to score goals.

Aside from Tottenham who are somehow 11th, Wolves have scored the most in the bottom half.

Would a win in that game give him a reprieve or is it a formality that he's gone?

Seems like he is already gone but they are keeping him around until they can sort the replacement

I don't think they'll necessarily get a new manager bounce. I feel like that usually happens when the previous manager has "lost the dressing room" but it appears that they're still playing for him from an outsiders point of view

The thing is, and we know this from 22/23, on paper it’s getting out of the rut that keeps a team up.

In 22/23 we battered Wolves 4-0. Beat Villa 4-2 and also out played Spurs 4-1. We looked like a proper team in each of those games. Forest stayed up and I don’t think they looked “decent” in any games that year. They had a shit defence, a shit midfield (except MGW), a shit keeper and a shit striker (who annoyingly went on a scoring spree) - they weren’t even involved in the mix in the last game. They were no near better on paper than us, Everton or Leeds that year. You just need to have something about you.

We will suffer under RVN at some point. Our squad suggests that. Wolves are suffering now. They might hit a purple patch with a new manager bounce etc. How we get out of that run is going to be massive. I’m hoping for at least one more win and one draw before Jan and the end of the season run gives me a lot of hope.

God forbid but if Vards got injured, we’d be significantly worse off.

I think both sides have enough to be the Forest this year and I don’t think anyone can suggest one has more chance than the other.
