I know we were dog last week but Newcastle are on fire at the moment.

We got spanked 4-0 at their place with a makeshift midfield and a competition winner in goal for half of it.

Ipswich are getting the same in their own backyard with a full strength side.

Forest are going to follow Newcastle and Villa in getting top 4 aren’t they. Just seems to be written.

All those who sucked off Rodgers for getting us 5th (after collapsing from top 4) should take a long look at themselves. The so called ‘top 6’ haven’t been so for years. Man Utd and Spurs are mid-table sides now.

Those seasons were a failure but people including Top and Rudkin failed to see it and here we are.

Oh well, good day to have triple captained Isak on FPL anyway!

I still don’t think they will on the basis Man City will surely improve. Newcastle and Villa are fast on their heels too now.

Nah, there's too much competition for that fourth spot. Provided Manchester City don't get a genuinely punitive deduction, they'll be up there. And even if they do get a Juventus style sanction, Newcastle and Villa will be up there. One slip up from Forest and they drop out.

We had a much, much better side than Forest did and couldn't get over the line twice. I'm not convinced that Newcastle and Villa are worse than Tottenham were when we ended up fifth.

We shot ourselves in the foot, no doubt about it but in the first 5th place season Man Utd had title winning form thanks to dodgy penalty decisions and buying Bruno Fernandes in January, for the second one Liverpool had title winning form to finish top 4 when they looked worse than Man City do now.

It will be interesting to see what business the struggling big sides do in January.

Forest will get European football of some kind, don't think it'll be CL though.

Conference League, if anything.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Villa in the CL spots. Newcastle and Man City in the UEL. Forest, Manchester United or Brighton in the UECL.

Let's not forget that we looked like genuine title contenders just before Covid hit and then got slapped 4-0 at home by Liverpool on Boxing Day. I'm not sure we ever fully recovered from it that season.

End of the day we gotta worry about us. Forest are punching well above their weight but credit to them for doing so even if it pains you to admit it.

There are a lot of twists and turns still left for this season. We are not even halfway through yet. If spurs, newcastle (and yes united) turn things around then it will change at the top 100% (well not first place). Can't count brighton out of top 7 either.

Think people just get triggered for when the “Forest achievements are better than Leicester in 2016” comments inevitably start.

I'm not sure there are enough drugs for those comments to catch on.

Maybe. I get it and all but they are a club grouped with ones like ours that let's face have no business being in the top 5.

Dont we want change at the top instead of the same old? Yes, it means our rivals might be better than us but that's part of the process in having football be more competitive.

Of course you can hope they are shit still or turn shit lol

Putting local rivalry aside Forest are the big improvers this year just as Villa were last year.

My nephews a season ticket holder at Forest and I'm made up for him, he's dreaming of big european clubs playing there, I for one hope it happens....just for him mind you, the rest of them can do one.

People genuinely try to argue that the only reason we won was because tge big teams weren't good

I'd argue that's far more true this season.

Manchester City, Tottenham and Manchester United have all shit the bed this season. Forest would be seventh at best if they'd turned up.

True, Manchester City, United and Liverpool were poor the season we won the league, but Tottenham and Arsenal were both very good indeed.

I hope they fall apart at the last possible moment and he's having to pretend that going to Shrewsbury on a Thursday night to play TNS is a return to the good old days.

Arsenal have also been crap this season compared to the past two.

The predictable comparisons with Notts F and 2015/16 are being discussed on BBC Final Score. We had 7 more points at this stage.

It would be a bigger story than ours as Notts F are a smaller club. Won't happen though, bless.
