An opportunity for what? Reducing the wage bill, sure. But I think it depends entirely on how much money we can / are allowed to, for a rebuild.

We'll need a ton of players - I don't trust our recruitment to find value and we could just simply buy into the next tranche of overpaid, average players. Also there's a chance that the club takes the easy/cheap option and re-signs some of those out of contract players too.

People keep saying the current player don't care, are over paid and not good enough.

If we can get the right technical director, you can rebuild on a modest budget.

What the alternative say where we are, with the same bunch?

I better than having this lot contract for another 2-3 years.

Look at Sunderland how fast thing can change.

I agree. As I say though it just depends on funds. If funds are low, we're left with a threadbare squad, half of which are largely unproven youth players.

I think it could do us a favour, make us lean and hungry.

I believe our current plight was driven my laziness, compliancy that we had made it and can act like a big 6 club.

Our best buys have general been cheap players.

Sunderland spent less than 20m over 4 year before they got promoted.

It took us 3 or 4 years to fall, it going to take longer to rebuild.

Sell him in the summer. If we have any aspirations he shouldn't be between the sticks.

With one year left (after a bad season) we would get naff all for him. Better off extending, giving him a year as number 2 and going from there. If he improves, great - if he doesn’t he has a longer contract that would fetch us a higher fee.

How would he improve as a #2?

Having to fight for your place and for training with a higher calibre of player. He’s under no pressure here, hence the mistakes

Or might not fetch a higher fee.

You're just extending the contract of a player who is not good enough, just like when Thomas got a new contract.

Why would other clubs look at Stolarczyk or Thomas and want to buy them.

Because of their ceiling. Thomas has reached his meaning we’re stuck with him. Goalkeepers peak later in their career

Not sure they are compatible. Thomas lacks in pretty much every area and is just awful. Stolarcryk seems much more the type that would flourish outside this dumpster fire we call a club. The areas he is performing poorly in should be identified and worked on by coaches but we aren’t doing that.

Also, as has been highlighted, Thomas was actually given a rise that was madness. If there is interest in Stolarcryk and his wages are modest, it is a different situation to be fair.

Because we can’t afford to lose an academy player who we could sell for pure profit on a fee. He shouldn’t be our number 1 but losing him for nothing would be stupid

That applies to LT & Choudhury and of you pay them more than a 3rd level team will they won't leave. You can't force a player to leave, they'll run down their contract like so many already have.
