They are still one of the three worst squads in the league though. No matter how much experience is in there. We were 4/9 favourites to be relegated at the start of the season. It's no surprise to me that we are struggling. The trouble with a lot of our fans though, is they can't accept where we are now and have unrealistic expectations of where we should be.

We are in the mix and can still stay up. The job will be a whole  lot harder if the fans don't try to help out. Fair enough, boo and voice opinions at the end of the match, but slating players during a game is never going to help.

However, fans are entitled to do what they want, just like players are if they don't want to clap the fans.

It's what it says about the mentality of the players and management that is the problem here. It shows they are weak. Professional sport is like Trial by Fire

Why is there a lack of quality? This is a football club that’s made more money from player sales from any club of its size….. this is a football club who went from comfortably 8th to 18th in less than 12 months…… this is a football club that’s just stood still watching the world pass it by. Yes the squad lacks some quality, but it also has quality, Vesty, and Faes are both international footballers, there are international footballers throughout this team with experience.

You have to compensate the lacking in quality with effort….. that is what the fans can’t forgive, there is a clear lack of effort, today was pathetic, they were out fought, not outplayed…. This squad is rancid, with the back bone of a jelly fish.

And the worst part about all of this, is our greatest ever player is about to retire a disgrace, it’s not his fault, there’s nothing he can do….. sounds completely ridiculous, but to save his legacy, I’d just let Vardy leave, his last season with us can’t be the most disgraceful relegation in the clubs history, or can’t be.

In terms of having a go at the players, they deserve it, if you’re not prepared to fight for the shirt, you’re not worth supporting, sorry. If they care, they will react.

People want us to forget about the great times we had over many seasons, but are unwilling to forget about the relegation two years ago.

We recovered from the relegation and did a great job in signing players and a manager to win us the Championship. For me the relegation was history then and we should be focussed solely on trying to stay up this season. Constant negativity from the fans even before a ball was kicked this season, doesn't help in my opinion. The squad is very limited in Premier League terms, despite what you say. That's why I can't get so angry after every match like many here. The previous relegation was far worse as we had the quality that should have kept us up. We simply don't have that this time around.

People on here, that don't like talking about the good decisions made by certain people at the club.

Ah, so you're defending players and management, lest it reflects badly on KP? Got it ;-) Sorry, it's a loser mentality. If you doubt it, try looking at that clip of the happy clappers on another thread. What do you see?

Over half of this squad doesn’t give a rats ass about what colour shirt they put on, it’s bare minimum effort on the pitch, they certainly take nothing away from training either.

Put more effort into checking their Banking Apps to make sure the 100000s are still being paid in.

Why don't we have the quality, why aren't we buying any players?

Could the club not have instilled more confidence in the fans by buying players, getting management decision correct, having a footballing philosophy and identity?

Even if the players don't have quality, thers nothing to stop them clearing a basic hoof forward into the box. This is basic stuff they ain't doing, the mentality the effort, the desire to win is not there.

I love the fact that Victor Kristiansen could be the first player to be relegated twice with the same club in two years, but in the intervening year achieve Champions League football.

Aside from the very obvious problems that are inherent within the club, one of the most telling things for me is the lack of leadership upon the pitch.

I feel since the departure of Kasper, we lack a figurehead and without that, we just seem like  11 individuals playing with no cohesion, rather than 1 collective, playing in unison.

I want them to show passion, and a determination to win games, but when you see players openly turning on one another on the pitch or through the medium of social media, that to me shows the Manager hasn't necessarily lost the respect in the dressing room, but the players have lost the respect of one another.

I want my beloved team to put on the club shirt and  put on a display worthy of that honour.

Also it's galling when we can have either a good 1st half display,  then play like Dog eggs in the 2nd half, or vice/versa.

If we have it in us to play well in parts, why can't we bloody maintain that momentum?

There's no consistency.

We aren't buying players so we are compliant with PSR and don't get hit by a load of charges by the EFL if we get relegated. Getting relegated previously with a squad that had a top 8 wage bill, obviously wasn't part of the plan and has made things tough.

Running up a top 8 wage bill for a crap squad of players wasn't part of a plan, but it was *quite staggeringly* inept, and will likely screw us over for many, many years

It wasn't a crap squad of players as they had achieved two top 5 Premier League finishes and an FA Cup win.

And yet we’ve been mismanaged to this point. And we all know why. It’s shocking and yet we are sleep walking… no sprinting toward it getting far worse.

Why on earth we changed direction in terms of strategy and decision making about selling to reinvest I will never know. IMO we got too big for our boots and thought or gambled on not needing to sell to reinvest. But then you loose the ability to refresh with those who have something to prove, you become stale, you have a series of duff signings and the few quality players you have realise the shows over, they run down contracts and you’re ****ed. Then that culminates in what happened today - where you have one or two decent players, but mostly plodders who either crap or aren’t here for the right reasons.

Such poor squad management over a number of years. We used to hark on about Peter Taylor dismantling a successful team. What’s gone on here in the last 5-6 years at a more structural level is far far worse, and should never be forgiven.

We had a top 8 wage bill but inevitably not top 8 players, our wage bill was over 100% of our turnover, which is suicide for any business. Now I appreciate the title, the fa cup, the European night's, the risk taken to push us on but then the absolute shambles that precided with giving Rodgers too much, nor getting rid of him quick enough requires someone to be sacked, maybe a few people, it's a huge failure in the football operations. Bringing in players with no purpose, Soutar, the worst Brazilian ever, Coady, Cannon, Okali no real direct or logic, tight on money but spanked 20 million on Skipp, 8m on a old man. There is massive incompetence throughout the club. It's going down, will stay down and may do a Luton if we don't shake it up.

Still doesn't make it a crap squad. A squad that drastically underperformed, yes.

I'm not going to list all the good signings, but we made plenty of them recently too.

We'll be favourites to win the Championship next season if we go down. We will have more than a good enough squad to get promoted again. There is just a huge gap between the two leagues.

If Vichai was here today this Bullschitt we’re dealing with now would not have been going on, he would have got rid of Rodgers long before Top eventually did he cd would not of employed Cooper he would have made sure this club would be secure in the Premier League!!

Therefore Top needs to put his big boy trousers on sort this SCHITT OUT that’s destroying his fathers Legacy get us back on the right track get rid of Rudkin & most of the board start a fresh and give us back the fight we had when Vichai was here, don’t Fuch up your fathers dream Top sort this out NOW !!

While I think you overestimate the strength of the relegated squad, why would they "drastically underperform"? Getting us back on topic, it's a lack of elite mentality. They're a weak (and expensively assembled) bunch. That speaks to ineptitude at all levels. Failing to face the fans illustrates this *perfectly.*
