I've seen them round my way.

I'd imagine long term it makes them easier to shift once they're done with them too.

They haven't resprayed the old ones. Any white van you see will be less than a year old.

I used to work for a company that delivered to customers. It was an outfit with shall we say some rather well to do customers. Most were great but a few snobs as well. On occasion if the regular van was in for a service a hire van was used. More than once we had complaints if the hire van turned up even if on time with complete order. I had to use all my training to avoid telling the entitled twerp to foxtrot off

that my mailman is an olympic sprinter, or so I assume

doorbell went, it took me maybe 3 seconds to get the door and by the time I opened it the parcel was on my doorstep and the guy 30 yards down the hallway catching the elevator

'Anything but a North London Gunner'

Hang on a second, I've only just noticed you are a Gunner and not a Gooner.

....do you even support Arsenal???

As a young child lived in Finsbury Park/Stoke Newington so thankfully nearer Highbury than Tottenham.  Never really been that keen on the Gooner moniker, which has only really been in common usage since the 1980’s.

A little anecdote for you Gunner. Many years ago when I first met my wife we were looking at some old family photos. There was one of her dad and a couple of mates at some do. One of the chaps was David Court a regular Arsenal player from the 60s. Wife's dad impressed I recognised David and I was impressed he was rubbing shoulders with a pro footballer! Simple times.

Yes I imagine you got a few brownie points for that!  I remember the name of David Court and I just googled that he was born in Mitchum and my dear Mum was born in Carshalton, which was just down the road.  Was your wife’s Dad from North London?

No he was from Hitchin, Herts. He was a brickie and worked all over north London as well as Herts and Beds. He was though an Arsenal fan. Apparently the photo was taken in Hitchin

Do you have a Ring doorbell? Sometimes they have a terrible delay between being pressed and actually ringing.

I've had a quote for an alarm and the installer said ring doorbells and alarm systems are regularly intercepted by by burglars - just an fyi if anyone is thinking about it, which is why they are quite cheap.

Speaking as a postie, I find the ring doorbells really unreliable. If I have a choice of bells ( most people still leave the old one in place), I'll always try the old one first . I've lost track of the amount of times I ring the Ring doorbell & no one answers, but I know they're at home . As soon as I knock the door they answer.

When they work properly they're good, as people can tell me were to leave parcels, but they do seem very hit & miss.

I think Evri must do drive-by deliveries.

Pigeons wait until the last minute to move out of the way of your car, not because they're stupid, but because they can process visual information much faster than humans, so can easily judge the moment they absolutely have to take-off.

Hello and commiserations, my fellow postie.

They can also lag terribly, or not at all, or come back with the message "sorry, we're not in right now or "you are being recorded right now".

If anyone has a ring doorbell and has got video footage of a postie saying direct to camera, "well, I can juggle, maybe be do a song and dance routine, tell a few jokes... What would you like?", that was me.

So there's no point in swerving to hit the feckers, then?

Damn!

They've infested our guttering, the patio, the conservatory roof and the solar panels with their shit. The constant calling noise (that isn't even attractive or tuneful) from dawn to dusk.

I hate the ****ing things.

I mean, HATE!!!!!

Did you know - and it's really obvious when you think about it, you've never seen this - birds don't urinate :o

Also, just be glad you've not got Andean Condors in your guttering.

Tell that to the dead one lying on the side of the kerb,  that I saw when walking to the shops this afternoon.
