No, it's so that the club can resell tickets to other fans (i.e. rip them off).

I can’t help wondering if the club timed this announcement to get a final burst of enthusiasm from the fans, when we were all at a point of thinking we couldn’t be bothered to go again this season.

Popped mine on the LCFC re-sale platform at 1.18pm today and it was sold by 1.19pm

Had no idea match was already sold out until today but at least it gives someone the chance to go instead of me at a fairer price.
