Wonder if Faes will make the next Belgian squad ?

of he doesn’t then he can’t make the WC

Popov has been extremely unlucky but showed great promise in his early years here.

It would be a shame if we just let him go now he's finding some form somewhere.

It may be the National League but we should either be keeping him and loaning him out again or doing a Man City by extending his contract then selling him to help with PSR but inserting a buy-back clause in case he continues to rip it up wherever he ends up next.

Surely not! Very vardy-esk

He's done really well there, but can't help think the defender didn't have to lash that into the net, feels like he was close enough to do something to just kill the momentum of the shot lol

From the highlights I’ve seen of him Popov definitely has a similar play style to Vardy.

Morecambe fans say he runs all game and is a proper nuisance.

and before someone tells me off, no I’m not suggesting Popov will be our next Vardy lol just a comparison on how they play

He wouldn’t need to be anywhere near as good as Vardy to be more than good enough for us in the coming years though. And I don’t even mean that as a dig at us but he could become a good Championship striker and be good for us or make some money if we did rise above that level again.

Vardy of course also struggled as a much weaker academic/club than Popov has played at with us as well as being much later to reach the level Popov is playing at now.

It has to be worth keeping him and continuing his development. Even if that was another loan, he’d still only be about 22.

He does have something about him. I think the goals dried up for him and I think that might have been a confidence issue. If I had to guess, I think his unsuccessful loan in league 2 probably gave the lad some self-doubt.

I think there’s enough promise in what he’s doing for us to want to see if we can monitor him for a little longer. The club needs to be smart, because if we want players going out on loan sooner, we have to accept that the will likely struggle. You can’t use that loan to assess if they’re good enough. Evan’s for example, shouldn’t suddenly be seen as a dud, the lad is simply a kid in a relegation fight, it was always unlikely he’d be used much

We should use the successful loan to get money for Popov in my opinion..

We'd probably get/save as much as we get for him by turning off the heating for the swimming pool for a few months.

He’s been booked so might end up coming off but sounds like he’s played well

Hopefully this isn't a false dawn but if he's proving to be starter quality at league one level already at 17 then that's very exciting for us.
