Feel for the lad tbh as being thrust into this pile of crap is unfair on any youngster - all of the youngsters are struggling and it’s because the base of the team is so weak - normally blooding youngsters into a team with a strong spine and leadership is less risky but these lads are being asked to jobs that there not ready for. Is he good enough I am not so sure but to be a centre half so young when he has not physically matured is tough. For me I would rest him , dump Okoli completely who is a car crash and build the spine with Vesty and Lascelles !

Hardly been a massive disappointment, took Martin 10 games to even play him, he’s been steady in most games probably MOTM in the last game and now he’s been poor. That’s football, he’ll get better.

He hasn't been good at all. I'm saying it as somebody who wanted him in the team, but I can't just pretend he's been much good. Crap circumstances, granted, but the lack of accountability at the club in general is a problem and we're not in a strong enough position to be alleviating anybody of blame.

I could totally see him going elsewhere and doing OK though - as does nearly everybody who leaves us. Even Faes is doing OK.

It has to be said and will be ammunition for those that say you can't blood youngsters in turbulent times. Some will sink and swim, some will learn from it and still prosper, the fact is that for football to exist players have to develop. I am surprised by Nelson's crisis of confidence here, his loan spells gave him a strong base to finally get his chance here but he hasn't yet put together a strong period of consistency.

He looked solid when he first came in when our results picked up in late October but will probably be another academy player that leaves here and improves to a equally as good if not better. It was our current manager who heralded him as a Premier League player, don't forget.

Hopefully he can quickly dust himself down after yesterday, a strong game next Saturday before getting away for a while to recover.

This club finds whatever way possible to extract the absolute worst out of just about every player, with the exception of Jordan James. It's happened too many times for this to be a coincidence. I'll never really be able to quantify why this is happening, but I know for nearly certain that it is.

I was having this conversation earlier I wouldn’t be surprised if you put him in a Norwich or a Swansea side he suddenly looks capable. Or at least slightly better

Id even say the same about Okoli to some degree

On Faes I admit I am going off match ratings somewhat which are a bit of a plague, but Monaco's results and goals conceded have been steady, he seems to be playing in a 3 and doing OK - Ligue 1 is stronger than the Championship as well.

I'm just completely out of patience with our players now. I'm fed up of giving benefit of the doubt to have it thrown in our face. There is a constant pattern here and that's what needs addressing.

I was having a similar conversation on the way home yesterday. I was saying that if he was next to any of our centre backs from

the last ten years, notably Huth, Morgan, Maguire and Evans, they’d have been talking him through the game and helping him, and he would be twice the player.

what chance has he got at the moment?

had a poor game yesterday, but I’m not mad at him. We need to be patient with the young ones, it’s a bad situation for them.

We spoke about this pre QPR but they basically give you no reason to trust them.

But you can absolutely bet they’ll somehow do enough to take it to the last game and lose at Blackburn for one final let down

Needs to become more vocal for me. That first goal for QPR needed him to communicating with the keeper and vice versa

Completely preventable goal.

And for the second goal keeper needed to give him a shout?

I think this team are capable of taking it to the last day at Blackburn, needing a draw to survive, Blackburn already relegated, and losing like 5-0.

Patrick Bamford's been a very good signing for Sheffield United by the way. A player a lot, myself included, would've been pretty 'meh' about signing.

But you know what, I think he'd have come here and struggled. That's precisely the problem. Nobody flourishes.

If we didn’t take an expensive gamble on Fatawu or land James on loan we’d be on about 20 points. It’s ludicrous.

Some of these have played 100s of PL games - it’s just rotten. We could put good PL players like Ouattara, Senesi and Baleba in this side and they’d look a shadow of themselves.

Was saying it about our form being reliant on James way before the injury. The form when he was actually out - scary stuff. Would be comfortably 23rd, and bottom in most normal seasons. Just a ludicrously bad side. And worryingly a manager change really hasn't done a lot.

What are we going to be like in League 1 without any good players, needing about 15 signings and no money?

We’re going to be reliant on Alves, Braybrooke, Cartwright, Evans etc

This was entirely the keeper’s fault for me.

If the keeper is going to dive at the ball it should have been accompanied by a huge shout, Nelson then simply leaves the ball alone.

If he doesn’t shout Nelson has to deal with it, but in doing so can assume the keeper is at his near post… keeper makes easy save should Nelson make a poor contact, as he did.

Keeper communicates properly = no goal

Stolarczyk's communication is definitely poor

How often do we see a cock up between him and one of his defenders as he clearly doesn't say whether he is coming out for a ball or not (when he definitely should be shouting it is his) and we usually end up with a "heart in mouth" moment as we have to scuff away a clearance etc.

People who don’t like academy players being involved are certainly going to have to get used to it next season lol.

Its not a case of not liking academy players, everyone wants one of your own to do well, if they're good enough.

Marti was slated for playing Faes and Vesty, but the defence was much better with them in the team.

If Faes had been making the mistakes Nelson has been making in recent games he would be getting dogs abuse on this forum.

Vestergaard, Souttar, and Lascelles should all be available after the international break. Will be interesting to see what Rowett does - IMO the starters should be two from that trio.

Souttar is made out of cheesestrings and has been injured for a good stretch of time, I'd be surprised if he starts much between now and the end of the season.

Faes was crap and clearly didn't want to be here, unfortunately with how shit the club has been run as well, Nelson is most likely to help us out with adhering to financial rules.

Whilst the keeper should’ve shouted that doesn’t excuse Nelson for a terrible slide and OG. I like the lad but he had a terrible game. He needs an experienced head next to him. I’d probably still start him in the next game but with Lascelles alongside. Both Okoli and Nelson are deputy centre backs, not leaders. Lascelles can lead and I’d play Nelson beside him because he’s way better on the ball than Okoli.

I don’t disagree but I won’t forget the reaction on here to Aluko being sent off. Pure elation from certain posters as it meant they could point score.

Nelson deserves all the criticism he’s getting by the way I won’t dispute that. He’s older than Page, Aluko, Monga etc who you could give some leeway too

Yeah you end up with zero balance from some people, weirdly go missing when one of them has a good game, but first to post when they struggle.
