Spent a bit more time researching him. At Pau in 2023/24 he played predominantly as a wide forward and the clips of that season stack up. Whilst he's not a winger in the mould of Fatawu, Monga or Mavididi he showed a bit more composure to get on the ball and either progress it or get crosses and through balls in than say McAteer or when we've seen Daka play there.

 

At Schalke last season he was pretty much always played centrally and had a strong season. His last two years have been in the 2nd divisions in France and Germany, probably a bit of a drop off to the Championship but not by much. Averaging 16 goals a season from 35 games is decent.

 

His stats look very ordinary on stuff like progressive runs, pressures at Schalke but having watched the videos it's not glaringly obvious that he's weak at that. You'd still hope for our next striker purchase to be more obviously well rounded as a modern forward though.

Worth remembering that we’re yet to replace Vardy and both Ayew & Daka are out of contract at the end of the season.

 

We will need to sign 3 strikers over the next three windows.

There's a lot of good sides in 2 Bundesliga these days, whilst they're not getting tough games week in week out, there's plenty of tough challenges.

 

We need two or three attacking options in the next season or two, versatile ones like this work for me, he's not going to be first choice striker.

Exactly. I’m hoping Leicester are looking at Ivanovic as well having lost Vardy and Cannon. Millwall seem to be looking for a replacement. Perhaps one more sale and we can get both.

This reminds me of that with Daka. Can't really knock the goalscoring numbers but completely reeks of a flop.

With Ivanovic for example, you can easily point out what his strengths are, aerial ability and someone willing to engage in duels. 
 

Sylla doesn’t stand out in any metric apart from goalscoring. Bundesliga 2 are only three games in, but some of his stats so far this season are almost as identical to last season.
