Has to be Van Nistelrooy for me.

I’ll start by saying that I was really excited it when we appointed him. He was left a heinous squad by Cooper and was badly let down in January.

However, I have never seen footballing incompetence like those games last season. I cannot believe we never conceded more than 4 in a game last season. I genuinely thought Brentford were going to break our 0-9 record, that night. Newcastle could havetoo.

These sides must have taken their foot off the gas. Cooper was abysmal and somehow fluked his way to 10 points, but so many of those performances under RVN were completely amateurish and he didn’t even try to change it.

I have to admit that I was excited by the appointment too.

I thought that one of the established journeyman managers on the circuit were not going to make the difference, so why not take a punt on an exciting up and coming manager with a stellar playing career and an impressive nascent coaching record.

It could have gone two ways.  Unfortunately for us it went south and I've never seen a more tepid and moribund character in a dugout.

Has to be Mclintock for me. The football was terrible. I think we set the record for the fewest  number of goals scored in a top flight campaign at the time. The signings were poor including Roger Davies who was the club's record signing at the time. we went from being a really entertaining team to a really dull and poor one in a few weeks.  He was backed as a manager with money for new signings unlike some other contenders.

I agree. Mclintock was a club legend in early 1960's but he joined with no coaching experience, replacing Jimmy Bloomfield his (last season 11th/22 clubs). He let Frank Worthington leave signing the totally forgettable Alan Waddle - 1 goal - as replacement .Nearly a season later, with 4/5  win from 40 games, and relegation certain he left - probably the lowest win percentage of any City Manager in charge of more than a handful of games.

Mclintock was a disaster from start to finish - Taylor was good until Wycombe loss, then it all fell apart.

Surprised that there have been hardly any mentions of Claude Puel.

Turgid, dull football under an uninspiring, cocky manager who just couldn't admit his own mistakes.

Puel was the perfect appointment for us at that time, turgid dull and a boring appointment as we were stabilising in the league. He’s the last manager we’ve had that’s left us in a better position as well

RVN spoke well in pre match interviews but it was all hot air off a script at the end of the day. He was clueless, despite having the excuse of not being backed to fall back on and so on. Not surprisingly neither Cooper and RVN have got good jobs now, Cooper at Brondby says it all. RVN...?
