Just sacked by 2nd from bottom Oxford United who’ve seen a massive improvement in performance since he left and yet he’s your 3rd choice? I live in Oxford, know lots of Oxford United fans who really rated him and didn't want him sacked. They were in a worse state than us last season when he came in and he comfortably kept them up. Know how to firefight and knows the Championship inside out. 4

Agreed but it's still damning of the pool we're fishing in, absolute shambles. I think barring Mowbray I would rather King. At least Mowbray has some sort of potential of something past the summer because he would build something regardless of the situation. 1
Foxdiamond Posted 27 January Posted 27 January Just going back to Dave Challinor again. Compensation might be an issue but he have served a very good apprenticeship at non league and lower league level. Surely somebody is going to take a punt at a higher level. Is giving managers with a proven track record at lower levels beneath us now 2

hinkfox21 Posted 27 January Posted 27 January If the rumours of Roy Hodgson come true I'm never supporting this football again!!!!! I can't believe I'm hearing that. Even though till the summer we can surely do better than that owl!

People turned their noses up to Moyes, Dyche and Wilder, called them dinosaurs and we should be looking at some unknown from Europe. Now the club’s only option is the substandard version of those same managers. Mowbray and if we can’t persuade him I reckon Rowett, it makes you sick. But until the owner fcks off the best we can hope for is to stay in this league. The football won’t be pretty or successful but like you say Mowbray is probably the best bet for a so called build of the season is up.

Bottom but one and sacked. And the new manager has completely turned them around. Oxford rejects should be rebuilding their careers at league 2. What happened to Rowett at Stoke, at Birmingham at Millwall? Sacked and doesn’t even play good football whilst he’s failing.
winteriscoming Posted 27 January Author Posted 27 January Is Coleman still with his Mrs? Who worked on sky sports. Charlotte Jackson I think her name was. I see a pattern developing here. Russell Martin with Lucy Pinder as well. We’re not after a manager. Top is after their Mrs.

No I fully agree mate, I'm not against Mowbray or Rowett I think they're both astute picks until the end of the season - nothing more. I would go for Mowbray because I think he's the most likely to turn this completely around and achieve something special - likes younger players too. Still makes you sick this is the point we've got to though. 2
funkyrobot Posted 27 January Posted 27 January I’d appoint John ‘Bring Yer Dinner’ Sillet based on this classic changing room rant at Orient 1

Total contradiction. I don't understand why people think Tony Mowbray is a firefighter. From what I recall he's quite a gung-ho manager who likes to build his players' confidence and get on the front foot. Plays football that the crowd enjoys watching. High scoring games, wins and defeats. He's done that with moderate success in Scotland and the championsip. Could inspire better performances from our under-performing players. There are some in here who are keen for Mowbray but turn their noses up at Rowett. Truly bizzare. Id take either BTW

Yeah don't get me wrong he's more expansive than some, you are right. It's probably unfair to put him in that bracket. I would be more inclined to give him more than a "until the end of the season" contract than Rowett, Coleman or whoever else appears over the next few days. Mowbray is my number one choice in an absolute shitshow situation we're in - In my opinion the closest we're getting to a Pearson style appointment.

winteriscoming Posted 27 January Author Posted 27 January Ffs Chris Coleman. I’ll throw in Slaven Billic and Jesse Marsh. Not that I want either but that’s the route we’re going down. I certainly hope we at least approach Hassenhutl. Failing that look abroad. It hasn’t done Middlesbrough, QPR, Bristol City, Norwich, and Swansea any harm.
