Honestly, what are City even doing at this point? We’ve already shipped Julian Carranza back, the Aaron Ramsey “let’s take a gamble” experiment has gone exactly how everyone expected — he’s barely been fit — and Jamaal Lascelles looks like another one we’ve signed straight off the treatment table.
Joe Aribo? The manager clearly doesn’t fancy him. Dujuan Richards? Only got near the bench because Jeremy Monga was crocked. So what was the point of signing half of these lads?
You can’t bring in nine players in one season and still end up relying on the same old faces and the academy kids. It just screams that nobody at the club knows what they’re doing. Recruitment looks clueless, the people above them look clueless, and the manager clearly doesn’t want half the players he’s been given. How do you sign players literally weeks before Rowett arrives and he immediately decides, “Nah, not for me”?
It’s embarrassing. It’s a waste of money. And it’s exactly why the club never moves forward.
Now it’s all dumped on James McCarron’s desk. Good luck to him, because unless City start signing players who can actually get on the pitch — and actually improve the team — we’re just going to keep going round in circles while everyone else overtakes us.

We never cut our losses quickly.

 

Imagine if we'd moved Praet, Perez, Soumare etc on early, even if we'd recouped 50% of their fess we'd have been up long tern because of the wage savings. We've been bad at churning through players - we didn't even have to sell a marquee player every summer. We could have raised £40m+ by just shifting the excess most summers.

 

Castagne, Pereira and Justn was overkill. Just as Iheanacho, Daka and Vardy was all the while we had glaring holes at LB and RW.

Looking at all of the signings we've made since we won the FA Cup (10 transfer windows ago) , I would argue that only Fatawu and Hermansen have been undisputable hits. James will join them if his loan turns permanent.

 

Promotion for Jonny though.

Both Aribo and Lascelles had really decent games at St Andrews, even though we were behind to a honker from Ricky and BDCR got sent off (I know hard to believe a schoolboy could get sent off in a mens match).

Lascelles then went ping and any hope of teaming him up with Ben Nelson went, and then marti was sacked and AK wanted to play Aribo as a sub winger.  Skipp's finally stepped up since then, so midfield has got a bit congested & Harry has been brought back on side.

I'm the eternal optimist BUT Saturday was shocking, after all that hope Tuesday and the away draws, we CREATE NOTHING, their keeper had NOTHING to do.  Having a shot, gambling on a run has just been coached out of them.  If we concede we have to score more, if we don't test the keeper we won't score, not hard is it.

Not new or fake news, but we are in serious serious trouble AND the others at the bottom are showing signs of life as well.

That’s exactly what a functioning Board does; Promote high achievers and get rid of under achievers.
