...the lowest ebb. Crowd of 6900 beleaguered fans under Pleat..

Tonight, 40 years later,.we've plumbed that same depth. The ebb so low, I think even Stockton Rush would be cautious

Edit may have been Hamilton actually

Can remember Walsh v V Geddis  and a broken jaw

I think that was season before on a Saturday opening day. Walsh got booed off by our own fans such was the violence of that offence.

The 6900 I'd guess was season or two after, midweek game

Yeh was Hamilton, Walshy decapitated their striker, happy days

The David Geddes game was opening day 1987, lost 0-1 under Hamilton. Walsh and Russell Osman were at CB and the crowd was about 8,500. Walshy got a huge ban, something like 10 games. I think Geddes scored.

Exactly. Alive then yes. Supported the club that long, by which I mean actively supporting and attending, no.

I started around 2002 so seen all the worst moments. The lowest crowds I remember were those early FA cup games in the last L1 season, about 7000 at the Walkers for Stevenage and Dagenham games. Where we all those loyal supporters then?

1983, the first game in a run of 15 unbeaten at the back end of the season that seen us promoted ahead of Fulham, who had been miles in front of us at one point.

Correct. The manager was Gordon Milne. Lineker and Smith were up front, with Stevie Lynex and Ian Wilson out wide.

David Geddes must be the most average player of all time to have  league Fa cup and champions league medals

Gerry Daly in on loan running the midfield.

What a forward line Lineker, Smith and Lynex were. Probably my favourite ever front 3.

Compare that to now...

Amazing to think either Lineker or Smith would be on the bench now in the modern day game.Heaven forbid anyone playing 2 up front.
