Below is the stats showing the average points per game for each player when starting or not during the season - Monga wins as many games as Daka & Winks!

Not the clearest but thanks for pulling this together.

 

Tells you what a disaster the January transfer window was - we needed a LB and striker, got neither and the players we got in had little positive impact, and in fact we were worse with them in the team. To be fair, Thomas has improved a lot under Rowett although he cost us 2 points vs Stoke - we could have done without all those signings, and just got a decent striker in which probably would have kept us up. 

 

I've defended Glover but no more - only mitigation is lack of direction from Rudkin as he had his best window under Enzo who did not compromise and had a clear way he wanted to play that Glover could deliver on. 

 

But you can't excuse what happened in January.

Disagree - only Coady was a poor signing that window while Mads, Fatawu, Winks and Mavididi were excellent that season. Cannon and Yunus made decent contributions or had good sell on value. 
 

Only judging that season as of course players like Winks and Mavididi would go onto stink the place out.

Mavididi wasn't excellent that year, and he's been a disaster ever since. Winks was good for half a season. Our results with him in the side, over two thirds of his time at the club, have been vastly inferior to our results without him. He's fallen out with the fans and three different managers, and been a mainstay of our greatest collapse ever, in almost 150 years. One of the major culprits.

 

Cannon's sell-on was fine, agreed, but I missed those good contributions you speak of. He got a goal or two, but never looked like a good spot. Coady, as you said, was a disaster. All of that, in total, amounts to almost 40m in misspent funds which could have been used to comprehensively rebuild our squad with the long-term in mind. Instead, it went on duds and short-term fixes, designed to bolster a vision of football which was never viable if/when we got promoted.

 

The highlights were Fatawu - one of the most selfish players I've ever seen and, in spite of his wonderful highlights reel, not particularly of any benefit to our team-play even in the second tier this season - and Hermansen, who is a decent enough keeper, but by no means a world-beater.

LOL, it’s a game of opinions. They did a very good job to secure we bounced back straightaway. 
 

But think we can agree it’s been dire recruitment since!

Play Skipp gain 0.29/game. 
 

Play Winks, lose 0.48/game. 
 

Not even Skipp can carry Winks. 
 

Funny old game really… Gaz needed experienced players he could trust, including the likes of Ricardo, Winks, Farawu, Mavididi, Begovic, Reid… all of whom the statistics suggest improved us by their absence.
