Okoli has stunk the place out since he’s been here. There is no evidence that a different style of play will make him a better player. He’s had 3 consecutive relegations across 2 teams with numerous managers and numerous systems of play.

Based on his previous jobs, there is nothing to suggest that he will have an honest conversation with himself or his coaching staff about whether the players at his disposal are capable of playing his preferred style. He is so ideologically committed to the way he wants to play that he seems completely incapable of acknowledging that some players simply can’t play that way. 
 

As for this season, one of three things will happen:

 

1) We do some amazing business over the next week and we end up with a team that actually can play RM’s style;

2) RM recognises that many of our players can’t play his preferred way and (for the first time in his career) compromises to get the best out of the squad; or

3) He stubbornly persists with trying to play an ultra-possession style with players who can’t play out from the back or move the ball quickly enough in forward areas, and we keep getting beaten by teams like Burton and he eventually gets sacked with us staring a third successive relegation in the face. 
 

My money is on 3).

It's not just the fact that the players aren't good enough, his system is not good enough.  It is blunt in attack, wide open in defence and deathly dull..

Watching the Sunday suppliment on Sky this morning they're talking about an article in the Times.

 

Jurgen Klopps 'heavy metal'  football has been adopt by many more clubs than 'Peps' slow possession based tactics trying to work overloads.

 

We're behind the times with our obsession of Pep ball,

I don’t think he intends his system to be poor in both attack and defence—that happens because he tries to implement it with players who can’t do it. I’m sure in his mind he has a vision of fast-paced attacking football that results in loads of chances created and is exciting to watch, but he’d have to be a coaching genius to get our squad to play that way, and frankly he isn’t.

So, new manager, some new players, same old tactics. It's patently obvious that this style of play is not suitable for this league. You have to be much more direct. This our manager is not capable of doing. I said yesterday that he'll be gone after ten games. However now realise that this won't happen, we have an owner who doesn't seem to care, he will leave it way too late before he decides to make the change. By which time the club will be of little value and we could well  be staring another relegation in the face

The club does not save itself because you, the mighty funkyrobot of Foxes Talk, says it’s possible that Russell Martin can be a success so you’re going to give him a chance.

 

It makes zero difference what you say so just be honest and say you don’t want him as manager. You’re supposed to be an adult with your own opinions.

Yes but saying it and actually doing it are different things. He’s just using the phrase - in reality he believes that the players are letting him down. That’s why he never changes.

He knows which players have consistently let the club down, you only have to listen to fan reaction for the most part - to pick them, them be ****ing ponging, and then say "honest conversations are needed" like there was no indication that this would happen is numbing my mind

I disagree with you here.  I think the system is inherently flawed.  Wide open in defence because passing around your  own penalty area creates more risk than reward.  

 

Blunt in attack because his extreme version of possession football generally favours the safe (ie sideways or backward) options just to keep possession rather than unlock defences.  In short, it takes the risks at the wrong end of the pitch and also plays safe at the wrong end of the pitch.

How do you know if you haven’t meet him or listened to him?

 

Call him out for losing a game, but comments like yours are just lazy and boring.

 

Its up there with people calling Cooper for he's looks.
